Wow! He's seriously considering this after the absolute whooping he took in the Senate race? He was the poster boy for "our country needs a new direction--away from Republicans." It was because of his ridiculous comments about families, and gays, and women and weapons of mass destruction that turned him into a laughingstock to anyone but the most hard-core conservatives. He couldn't win his home town at this point, let alone Philly/Pitt in an election... in fact, the only county he'd probably win, is Franklin.  |

At 5:53 p.m. He's received approximately 35% of the votes, so apparently he can't even win in Franklin...or at least with those of us who use the online polling (I'd like to think we are superior in intellect and charm!)
What disturbs me is the 54 who voted for him. Why? Seriously, someone tell me how he could get votes beyond those given to him by a straight party ticket.
Any of his supporters, please come forward. I'll be honest, You aren't going to change my mind about him, but I would like to hear your opinion and I promise not to name call!

Now he is only at 29.41% but MORE people have voted for him.
I can tell I've been up way too long, because I'm starting to get cranky...Who ARE these people?! What is their average I.Q.? Anonymouse said once 'they' were too paranoid to register here, but I know they read the threads. I can seeeeee you!! Either explain yourself or get some doggone sense!!
I'm not referring to Republicans either. Apparently, there is a strong population of retards posing as GOPpies...maybe voting shouldn't be an automatic thing...

His support comes from those who only care about the following issues:
1) Pro Life
2) Anti gay marriage
All else is irrelevant. To these people a ticket of Santorum & Ann Coulter would be their dream come true.
The really scarey part is that there are people like this. The one guy who heads one of the Christian conservative groups stated that he will not vote for a candidate that is not pro-life.
I can see these social issues as being a factor. But to make them number one is dangerous. What good is their pro-life effort if the country goes to pot.
To me, I say this to those agaist gay marriage: If your marriage is somehow affected by what two people, you don't know, do, then the problem is with your marriage.
If you are going to vote solely to protect the unborn, how about helping protect children after their birth. I.E. quit opposing programs like S-chip, head start, food stamps, etc.
It is so sad that those who announce their Christianity can act so un-christian. |

Agree or disagree with his stance on specific issues, the one thing you have to give him credit for is clearly stating his beliefs, and not twisting his words to appeal to whatever group he's in front of at the time. In this respect, I think all politicians on both sides of the aisle could benefit from his example.
I have more respect for someone who clearly opposes me on an issue, and says so, than someone who can't commit to a position and tries to please everyone.

He clearly states his beliefs but that doesn't make him any less wrong. I've met crazy people who can clearly state their position on why people with dark colored hair must die, but that doesn't mean they should hold office.
I don't have a problem with people reviewing the facts or opposing positions and then changing their mind. I think it is ridiculous to stubbornly hold to a failed plan just to keep from being called a 'flip-flopper'. There are worse things than being called names.

But you're in a good position to decide whether or not you wish to vote for him, because he doesn't hide behind a smokescreen.

Agreed. Bottom line for me is that you should be true to your own beliefs. If that means a stated change on an issue, explain to me what convinced you....maybe I'll agree. But if you haven't wavered, don't pretend you did just to further your campaign.

Well, gee, I do believe we're in agreement! (Again!)
Don't get me wrong, those heated 'discussions' on Haloscan are entertaining and they certainly get the blood pumping, but I'm really enjoying these threads. I feel like we're actually accomplishing something here. We aren't changing the world or anything, but we've got people with differing opinions communicating with each other....
