| Anyone know what is going on with the little convenience store on route 11 in Marion? (not Cebco, but the other one) They have a sign posted stating they were "forced to close due to false rumors spread by the Marion Volunteer Fire Company". What is this all about? |

I don't believe they survived this long. It would survive if they had gas pumps like the old Highs use to. Once Cebco went in they hurt Rutters and they closed and then this store opened and now they are closed. I wonder what the rumer was?
I did visit there on Thanksgiving and the sign with the hurs said these hours may vary due to business. And I have heard that the woman's kids were always in the store even taking naps on the floor at times....
I am not surprised by them closing! |

| I saw that sign today, but didn't see the part about the fire company. Was that in tiny print that I couldn't see from the road or have they changed the sign? |

| They must have changed the sign. It was visible from the road. So no one has connections at the fire hall to tell us the scoop? |

| It's interesting that they changed the sign so they aren't specifically blaming the fire department. I wonder if someone advised them about libel law. |

The fire dept leases that building out. Rutters got tired of the firehall crap and got the hell out of there.
I wonder where all the Marion rats sat around at now? |

| My understanding, from reading the PO and watching the local news networks was that Rutter's is building new stores in the area on land that they either have an extended lease on, or purchased out right for their expansion and development plans. Something similar to their store in Shippensburg |

Well they threatened to not renew leases and Rutters finally said good bye. The location they choose on Cburg will be good. I just wonder how it will afftect Sheetz? _________________ I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?

Sheetz will be fine; they've been dominating the PA convenience store/gas station market for a long time and it's nice to see Rutters bring in some competition. Besides, that Sheetz on the corner of Orchard and Wayne is too small and crowded; maybe this will prompt them to expand it a little. |

That is exactly what I was referring too. I try to avoid that Sheetz at all times. The new one on LWW is just as bad it not worse.
I have been at the Rutters in Ship several times and I was surprised to see what food they offered. Not like I want it but its not just sandwiches and subs. Maybe that is what Cburg needs some other option than Sheetz. _________________ I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?
