I have to agree that Haloscan is a pain in the tush. I am looking forward to an updated comment board. Has anyone used the Topix type the postaff poster mentioned? _________________ Me thinks that the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow. ~ Henry David Thoreau on hiking |

Well, I do love the new Topix boards; despite the problems .45chel says she's having. It has worked well for me; I registered, it keeps track of my posts and now people know how to reply directly to me (especially when i get them fired up over the war in Iraq).
But today it's not working so well; I can get to Topix on all the news stories except the one on the SU network upgrades... |

I'm having the same difficulty with Topix as I did with the Haloscan. Refresh, refresh...or completely back out of it and try again.
It does crack me up when it puts down where I live! Wow, my husband has a looooong comute to work and back every day! Yeah, yeah, I know...it's an ISP (internet service provider) thing. But, you'd think that it would have mine right since we have a static IP address, whereas most people don't. |

Most ISP's do assign static IP's, but the location is based on the where the server is that assigned that IP. Even if your provider has an office right in town, that IP probably came from a huge server farm far away.
But, if you register with Topix, you can just select your location yourself. |
