Does Mensa have their own test? I know they accept raw ASVAB scores (gl getting a copy) and they have a lists of acceptable tests and scores, but I didn't think they actually administered their own tests.

I don't know if they even take the new and improved 'adjusted' ASVAB, maybe it's just the scoring they adjusted. I think they grade on a curve now (BIG curve)
Hey! Let's all go take the ASVAB! You take it *before* you sign your enlistment papers, so we can just, ya' know change our minds Wink
be careful tho' those closer recruiters are worse than used car salesmen.

Some will have to fudge on their age. Queen, we'll disguise your wheelchair as a...a...HUMVEE...mmm, no...lemme think on that one a while.

Once again, I am re-hijacking the thread...sorta.

Turn on the news and there are riots in Kenya. Complaints of election fixing. Pakistan is still pissed off (understandably so.) And U.S. government officials released a statement saying that they tried to pass on information to Bhuttos camp and she could've avoided that whole ugly mess. (yeah, she brought it on herself! Phsss, females.)

I'm going to have to think about siding with Coppy. Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting a little riot weary.

On the bright side the Powerpuff Girls movie just came on Cartoon Network (one of the more perfect networks, might I add, especially for late night viewing) Original style.
Have you seen the new "reimagined" Powerpuff Girls Z?

I'm SO old!! Crying or Very sad

Okay, Buttercup is pretty cute...

>sigh<
There goes my attempt at turning the thread around...

Back to the orginal posting - the article seems like backward reasoning here. How can the Democrats be blamed when it was Bush that basically quit looking for OBL? Mushariff made a deal with the tribal leaders so he wasn't looking either. Bush was interferring with trying to get Bhutto back in power. Bush was telling Mushariff that he counldn't be the democratic leader & be the head of the military yet Bush is Commander - in - chief? Maybe AQ & the Taliban are strong because people don't like us meddling into their affairs.

Perhaps if we would have concentraed our efforts, OBL would be dead and AQ & the Taliban weakened to irrelevence.

As for IQ's - I went to a top twenty university that was not easy to get in to. Some of the dumbest people I have ever met were there, with their high IQ's and zero commoin sense.

Dave, I went to a not so fancy U. I had one of the worse Profs (if I dare call him that) in history. He never showed up for class. No, I lied. He came for the first class, handed out the syllabi, and went for a cup of coffee. When next we saw him it was the last day of class. We all received "A's" for the course in Criminology. We, as a class, took it upon ourselves to do the work, sans prof. We even did a course required 20-page paper. When the class was over and the prof handed out the required "instructor assesment" paper, we ripped into him. He asked the class to turn them into him, we refused, another gentleman in our class was elected to turn them in to the Dean himself. Funny thing, that "Prof" wasn't listed on any classes after that!

Another case: (so sorry to bore you...) My hubby went to a college near here after retiring from the USAF. He took a class in computer something or other, the instructor was so inept that my hubby ended up teaching the class! Then the instructor tried to give him a "B"! That failed, he received his highly earned "A+". (You don't mess with my hubby, you will pay, dearly...I usually see to that!)

A wingnut? You're married to a wingnut?! And he actually does physical labor? (I kid, I kid)

I am all too familiar with that emotion! Smile It's funny how I can be completely reckless in regards to myself, but will dig your heart out with a plastic spork if you give my goofy, yankee husband a bad word! His unit was terrified of me, as well they should have been!

Well aware of the acronym. I'm a vet and he's a vet. Have to admit I like it better when we were both in service. I did not transition back into civilian life easily. I liked it better when we both had secrets. Wink

Crap! I put one too many "greats" on there. Them Lee siblings did some, uh, begetting. 'Ole Uncle Bobby never did have any kids of his own.

I too, am a USAF Vet. (late, late Viet Nam era) I was in telecommunications. My computer took up a whole room, I typed either on mylar tape or cards. We sent coded messages through these huge machines via the tape or card readers. I usually had the great joy of handling the German messages. The bad thing was I didn't speak a lick of German and I couldn't type without looking at the keyboard. (And, I still can't! But, I can type about 50 wpm.) When one typed with the tape, there was no "readout" or screen to see what you were typing, you could only hope for the best. God only knows what came out at the other end!

chel, my other half would like to know what you meant by the term "wingnut"? We've never heard that before. Flyboy, and Pencil-pusher are the only common terms that I was aware of.

New word: past tense of typed...toped. Typed just doesn't sound right.

Not sleeping is not as productive as it was a few years ago. Then I could go with out sleeping and still function...I need better drugs! Very Happy

I was radio operations. Make sure the line goes through and the guys down range can talk those in the rear. DH was/is satellite operation/communications. ETS'd from Detrick but still works there as a civvie.
