I just wanted to see how everyone feels about maybe starting new posts when threads start to get hijacked. I know I'm guilty of hijacking a thread as well, but when a thread is hijacked we actually do lose something. There is no shortage of new threads, it's not being wasteful, and can actually allow discussions to move on over time, and not become lost in the clutter.

i just wanted to add, if something comes up in a thread that segways into a new topic, just link and/or copy and paste that into a new thread, this doesn't have to mean you can't allow a thread to evolve. but a good example of this is I should have moved the iq discussion out of the bhutto thread, now it's tough to continue talking about pakistan.

When you refer to a thread being hijacked, do you mean when someone besides yourself, Coppy, .45, or QueenofHearts attempts to comment intelligently? Especially if they disagree and have a good argument? Maybe that's why there are no "concervatives"?

No. He means when we go off topic. For instance, the Bhutto thread was started, obviously, to talk about Pakistan's tragedy, but it then went to Michael Reagan's adoption, stem cell research, a post about when life begins, I.Q. scores and a discussion about why people breed and why they shouldn't and back to I.Q.
That's a hijacking. It's also called thread evolution. The natural course of a conversation can be frustrating when you want to stay on topic. Unfortunately, I'm often guilty of mutating a thread.
I say hijack it back!

Welcome, Onetime. Very Happy
Please stay.
And feel free to express yourself (within the Public Opinion's rules, of course.) I enjoyed Trey's posts, but he left. I haven't seen PA Young Republican in ages. I think if you look, you'll see a diversity of thought. Check out my thread on the Fox News Explosion http://publicopiniononline.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=176
We have people who watch O'Reilly in this forum!

If you want more, I'll gladly search around for you. Point is, we can disagree on T.V. channels or politics or hogmaw, but still have decent discussions.

I'm sorry!!

I'm not very good at this one track topic thing! I'd blame my ADD, but I don't typically consider it a weakness.

So there.

I just want to acknowledge new posters and let them know we want them here. Somebody make a Welcome thread. Confused

I still love you Springhill, in a creepy stalker kind of way.
