Great suggestions!!!! I've heard that Value City is closing and that Burlington is not coming to the Chambersburg Mall. The mall is almost starting to look like an indoor flea market with all the junk shops that are there. I wonder how many stores are open verses how many are closed?

Really?? I heard Burlington was opening here. Geez, if the mall loses their Value City shoppers (mostly those in the lowest income brackets and college students) then the mall must surely die.

Good riddance!!!

they need to do something if they are going to keep in business.

in scranton, the one mall was floundering. drop in an express and limited with a kauffmans and a barnes and noble and things improved 10 fold.

ditto the capitol city mall in mechanicsburg...insert a charlotte russe, forever 21 and those "types" of stores and it's doing much better (plus an improved food court....why don't we have one of them? hum...)

food for thinking....

I agree completely, but Capitol City was never as bad as the Chambersburg mall is now. And one of the biggest problems is basic infrastructure; that overpass at the Scotland Exit is just unbearable. I'm not going that way if I can help it.

Plus, Green is dry; Capitol City improved itself by opening a couple of casual restaurants in and around the mall, plus they completely renovated the food court (and at least they actually had one prior) and added the stores you mentioned. Borders also opened across the street.

C'burg Mall reminds me more of the Camp Hill mall before they renovated; but even that pathetic mall had a food court Razz

I bought cheap shirts at Value City too; and I got a sweet deal on an electric carving knife too.

Regardless, the clientele is often... interesting. I like the guy who works there with the pink glasses.

I stopped at the Chambersburg Mall today at about 5:00pm to find that it was still closed. The anchor dept stores were open. For those who have not heard, apparently a truck hit a utility pole and knocked out power to the area, including the mall. Power seems to be back on, but the mall is still closed.

I peeked through the doors at the empty mall... what a sad sight. This mall has become a pathetic blight in my opinion. Why even bother having the option at this point? Just go to Hagerstown... I drove around it and the place is all but run-down. The parking lot and access roads are full of pot holes. The main sign is weathered and falling apart. The billboard off the Scotland exit proclaiming that it's a "great place to shop" is nothing short of false advertising.

The movie theater is awful; the upholstery is musty, the floors are sticky and the screens are smaller than some televisions. You can actually hear the movie playing next to your theater if you go. Not that they ever show anything worthwhile...

Sorry, I just think the mall does more of a disservice to Chambersburg than anything else.

The Mrs. would be at the mall every night when Value City was going out of business - she bought so many darn shoes, but "she saved us so much". Very Happy

Haha, yes, there was quite a few people who used the Value City closing as the ultimate shopping spree. I'm a bit of a minimalist by nature, which probably why I'll never understand women Razz
