I have a question though; I was traveling up I-81 North the other day and I was checking out the countryside. Right at about the point you're coming up on Chambersburg, just as the water tower is in view, I looked to the right and saw what seemed to be a huge, flat-topped dirt mound in the distance.
Is this some sort of quarry? |
I assume you were travelling northbound, coming into c'burg from the south - that flat spot was produced by Valley Quarries. You can't get real close, but can drive roads around it. Access off Wayne Ave about a mile from I-81 and before New Franklin. It is a very large quarry and I'll bet quite deep based upon the excavated soil. |

Hello everyone, I am brand new to this board.
I have been looking for a local message board to give voice to my feelings about issues in Franklin Co. This string looks like a good place to start.
How about this. What is everyone's opinion on the recent fiasco with the Chambersburg School Board? If you have followed the few newpaper articles about the Borough Officer's at CAMS and Faust Jr. High I am sure you have some opinions.
Trust me, I have some very solid opinions to voice!!! I thought I would just start things out first and see where the discussion goes.
Should it be a new thread? _________________ Pain goes away, Glory is forever!!! |

Hello Patriot Warrior!
We're glad you're here! Thanks for stepping up to the Soapbox! We like fresh meat, er, fresh opinions!
Disagreements are common here, just like in the real world and with the subject you're broaching it may get... interesting. Don't take anything personal and try to leave it at the thread (try not to hold a grudge.)
This forum has alot of good people, sometimes they agree, sometimes they don't, but it somehow works out. I, for one, am glad you want to be a part of it.
As for an answer to your post, let me chew on it and give a few more people an opportunity before I weigh in. (It is the day after report cards, at least for CASD---hiss) _________________ I demand euphoria! |

| I would suggest starting a new thread since it could generate discussion over a long period. |
