Part of Molly Pitcher Highway was reduced to one lane for awhile on Wednesday (the 16th) during the evening because of a fender bender.
A photo of each vehicle involved below:
Thanks,

| At what point does a "Fender Bender" cross over to being a "Smash-A-Rooney"? This looks like more of a smash up than a fender bender; I'm just glad that there were no serious injuries. Thanks for posting all of your pics. |

Sorry I guess I'm too desensitized as I've seen many accidents. I suppose "collision" would have been a better choice of words rather than "fender bender" _________________ On The Scene Blog: http://blogs.publicopiniononline.com/onthescene/

I often times wonder how the paramedics, police and others can tolerate seeing these scenes as first responders over and over. We don't often think about what it must be like to have to deal with the investigation and clean up after wards.
Thanks again for your pictures. |

Trust me, I dread coming to a DOA scene. Nor would I think I'd be able to take pictures (personal reasons).
I think there is always a level of respect first responders have but it is "part of the job" as they say. Speaking for myself having been in 2 "totaled vehicle" accidents it does remind me of the pain (physically and emotionally) of dealing with these situations. But like anything in life (even watching something graphic like CSI on TV) you don't loose the respect for the event, it just becomes second nature in a way. _________________ On The Scene Blog: http://blogs.publicopiniononline.com/onthescene/

| You know, wanting to look at accident photos, especially closeups, seems kind of goulish and voyueuristic. And Brian, if you make a living selling news photos why voluntarily post them on the PO's Web site for free? |

Uh, Brian's signature says he's a contractor for the PO, so I assume that means he IS getting paid. Right, Brian?
P.S. I like that you/the PO is posting these photos. We get to see way more than we would in the regular newspaper - and I don't think it's twisted to want to look at them. It's not like you're showing us injured people with blood running down their faces, or bodies. Keep up the good work, man. _________________ The sun, the moon and the stars would have disappeared long ago... had they happened to be within the reach of predatory human hands. ~Havelock Ellis, The Dance of Life, 1923 |

I think the pictures are very well 'done'
I am not any kind of responder, unless we're counting Soapbox, so I cannot comment on the behavior or mindset of One, but the pictures offer context.
I won't say there is not a part of me that is "Whoa! Crash, bang! Shi--Shweet!" But it isn't the largest part.
We saw a fender bender the other day---weren't even close to being involved, but the heart begins to pump a bit faster. The two drivers involved could very easily have been us and it served as a yet another reminder to be more cautious.
I think these pictures do the same.
Also
I'm not advocating blood and gore, but in my teens, one of my friend's dad was a Homicide Detective in one of the metropolitan areas. He would 'accidently' leave crime scene photos out ---of suicides, overdoses, drunk driving, domestic violence, gang violence, etc. Not only was a dialogue opened, but the memory of those pictures hung with you long after the words may have left. _________________ I demand euphoria! |
