The tuscarora school district of course borders Chambersburg and Greencastle antrim. How can these two districts have good and bad years and JB always seems to be bad. How can one group of kids on one side of a line have successful teams but the kids on the JB side always have bad teams? How can other area schools send football athletes to college and yet JB sends few if any with scholorship. It can't be the kids, our genetics isn't much different then those kids who are neighbors. We have had lots of different coaches, so it shouldn't be coaching. The kids work as hard or harder then other teams, so it isn't effort.... so what is the problem?
some possibilities to concider...
1. rural school district, most younger teens may lack transportation.
2. too many sports, athletes spread to thin to make enough for a good football team or enough of a commitment from the players in the off season.
3. a culture of losing, they rarely beat anyone except teams much worse then them. Teams they should be able to complete with they always seem to beat them, albeit sometimes close.
4. Due to the tradition of ineptness and losing, athletes with promise leave to go to school elsewhere.
5. Playing time and position determined by who they are (not an arguement I agree with but one I have heard)
what do you think the problem is? I have no idea, but at least I have a lot of company because nothing has changed for over 30 years. If I am not mistaken our last great season was in the 1970s.... |

There were some winning seasons in the 90's, but your right it's pitiful. I've always thought (and went experienced) that because their is really two midget football programs (Mercersburg and St Thomas) the kids don't play together and when they get to Jr High or JV ball, there is no cohesivness.
I don't think that the coaching is the problem, Kevin is a great coach--and who knows the games. Now there were some past coaches that I questioned their effectivness. Go back as far as Troxell (80's), Sessna (from Arizona, I think), or Snider (although probably had the best ideas) and you see some strange play calling and positioning. |

| I don't follow the team enough to comment on the coaching. I know there are those who constantly are frustrated with it. I also know that turning around a program is tough, whether it is football, another sport, a music program, a church, etc., etc.,etc. Fortunately, when it finally happens (for whatever reasons), the positive cycle of success is as hard to break as is the negative cycle of failure. Best wishes to my Alma Mater! |

| ok , first of all kevin g. is not a great coach or even good, yes he trained under snyder who had 1 or 2 winning years 96 97 i think, not bad for 10 years coaching, as for troxell and sessna what a joke the late 70s and all 80s were A JOKE for JB |

your definitly right about being a joke. but there has always been a culture at the hs that there were bigger kids in the band than on the field. i'm not really disagreeing with you, but i think the problem isn't 100% on the coaching. and even if you got a nfl coach, they'd still lose! |

| as a grad of JB of over 32 year ago, i watch with interest as JB tries to get kids from SOUTHERN FULTON & CENTRAL FULTON to play football at JB. Now these kids have lost faith and some are saying why should i play for a program that can't win, kids don't mind getting hurt and beat up if they win. The problen use to be, getting 20 kids to come out for the team, well they fixed that problem, but for how long. |
