What do ya'll call roads that parallel the interstate up here? We call them access roads, but DH's people call them something else.

He had his drivers license revocated for DUI. He pert near wrecked, so he did, but luckily he knew where the turn was at, and made it ok.

That's funny; I know a LOT of people who do that, but only people from the Franklin County area. And they do it at the end of pretty much every sentence. Never understood that one |

ROFL!!!
ok. so this made me curious.....according to wiki:
"Kurt Vonnegut was born to fourth-generation German-American parents, son and grandson of architects in the Indianapolis firm Vonnegut & Bohn, on Armistice Day."
so am thinking the german bit must've come into play, seeing as we're a germanic sort'o'area.....
apparently i use the word "that" at the end of a lot of sentences....it's really funny that. |

I considered putting davenport into the mix, but thought, "nah, no one but me and a few seniors know that term." Silly me! _________________ I demand euphoria! |

| One that really drives me nuts is frigerater. I mean, really what is a frigerater... I know what a refrigerator is, but not a frigerater. But the "more better" saying really drives me crazy |

My family is from western PA too and one of the things that made my son say 'huh?' was when we went to visit my gram and she asked my son if he wanted a 'tonic'. When that didn't register she tried 'pop'. I explained that gram meant 'soda'. Never heard 'tonic' anywhere other than Bedford County.
We were admonished to 'red up' as kids and its a comon phrase in my house as well. Not that dh or son actually comply...
Also, whether wood burning stove, oil furnace or electric heat - creating more warmth in the house was referred to as 'stoking the far' (fire - sounds like far). _________________ Me thinks that the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow. ~ Henry David Thoreau on hiking |
