I've met people about my age that use their age as excuses as to why they can't do this or that. Excuses - no more no less!I just look at them and laugh inside and go about my day

Man dives in to save dog from Fla. shark attack

LeNoir said he yelled, then balled up his fists and dove headfirst into the water off a pier. He hit the shark in the back and the creature finally let go of the dog.
"I couldn't see the shark when I dived in ... so I just put my fist together ... but my hands landed solidly against the back of the shark," LeNoir told NBC-affiliate WTVJ.
Man and dog made it safely back to shore. The dog suffered bite wounds but was not critically injured.
"I thought Jake deserved whatever I could do," LeNoir said of his heroism.
LeNoir told NBC 6 that Jake "can't stand swimming pools," but that he might have to change Jake’s swimming hole. |

The photo of the dog made me happy (follow the link) he is bandaged, but not mangled.
It's just a great story about a great dog owner. We mostly read about loyal animals or bad people, but here we have a loyal person!
I knew they were out there!

I know I'm something of a cynic, but there is no hope for this kid.
He's a waste of genetic material.
I don't care what his family life is like. I don't care what income bracket he lives within.
I don't care.
If you can do something like this, at ANY age, with no remorse and no outward expression at all... this is the kind of sick puppy you let Amish puppy mill breeders deal with.

The boy also fed several live animals to Terry by throwing them over the two fences surrounding the crocodile's enclosure, at one point climbing over the outer fence to get closer to the giant reptile.
'Like he was playing a game'
In the footage, the boy's face remains largely blank, Neindorf said, adding: "It was like he was playing a game."
By the time he was done, 13 animals worth around $5,500 had been killed, including a turtle, bearded dragons and thorny devil lizards, Neindorf said. Although none were considered rare, some are difficult to replace, he said.
"We're horrified that anyone can do this and saddened by the age of the child," Neindorf said.
Lawsuit planned against boy's parents
Alice Springs police said they are unable to press charges against the boy because of his age. Children under age 10 can't be charged with criminal offenses in the Northern Territory. His name was not released because of his age.
Neindorf said he plans to sue the boy's parents.
The boy's small size is probably the reason he didn't trip the zoo's security system, which relies on sensors to detect intruders, Neindorf said.
"I just want people to learn that they can't let their children go and run amok," Neindorf said. "If we can't put the blame onto the child, then someone has to accept the responsibility." |

Michael Bosch of San Rafael, Calif., knew he had a loyal friend in his dog, Honey. But until Monday night, he didn't know he had a savior too.
The cocker spaniel was with Bosch when he backed out a little too far from his driveway, sending his SUV plunging 40 feet into a remote ravine. The vehicle landed on its roof, pinning 63-year-old Bosch inside.
"It was crushed pretty severely between the steering wheel and the stump that pierced the roof of the car and the dashboard," said Tim Thompson of the Marin County Sheriff's Department.
But after several hours, Honey was able to escape when Bosch managed to roll down a window and told the dog to go for help. She ran half a mile to neighbor Robin Allen's house.
"She was bringing me here," Allen said. "She was directing me."
By the time rescuers reached the scene, Bosch had been hanging upside down for more than six hours -- and his pulse was weakening. Honey saved his life just in time. Ironically, Bosch had recently saved hers when he adopted her from a shelter two weeks ago. He had been waiting for a cocker spaniel puppy for more than a year.
"She was brought in by her owner who couldn't continue to care for her, just couldn't afford to," said Sheri Cardo of Marin Humane Society.
By giving Honey a new home, Bosch gave himself a new lease on life.

Fantastic article!!!!
Made me all sappy and emotional. (despite having one cat try to sit on my head while I read it, another cat digging her claws into my arm as she tried to pull herself in my lap and being covered in feathers because the dog who decimated my down comforter last week has now discovered my down pillows and literally ate one out from underneath me as I slept!!)
Yay! For animals!!!

Man Named Fox Wrecks Car After Picking Up 'Dead' Fox (emphasis mine)
A man who decided to take home a fox he hit on the road wrecked his SUV after the animal he thought was dead revived.
Tommy Fox ran over the fox last Wednesday near Dover, Tenn., as he returned home from work, the Leaf Chronicle reports.
Thinking the animal was dead, he decided to take the animal home to cut off its tail as a souvenir, Dale Grandstaff of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency told the paper.
"The tails are real bushy and pretty and thick this time of year," Grandstaff said.
Instead, the driver flipped his GMC Jimmy trying to keep the fox — that had awoken in the backseat — from biting him, Grandstaff told the paper.
Fox suffered minor injuries and bruises, the Leaf Chronicle reports. The fox died, though it was unclear if it was from initial injuries or the subsequent wreck of the vehicle. |

Determined by an Applied Animal Behavior Science Study, which involved researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and was based on a survey of 6,000 dog owners.
1. Dachshund (if someone was always trying to dress you up as a hotdog and kept referring to you as a weiner, I bet you'd be cranky too!)
2. Chihuahua (small dog syndrome...wait, that's a dog?! I kid, I kid. ---- I have a fish that could *totally* that dog)
