Have you tried to resize them smaller?

I had to go through quite a few of my images before I found one of suitable size. I would change the pixel # but had problems reducing the file size. You may have better luck than me. Try photoshop or imageready

Have you considered doing a thumbnail or avatar graphics search? You may find some you like that you can have hosted for you at photobucket or save to your computer and rotate through (or not) at your leisure.

They can not be more than 80x80 pixels. This can be resized in some basic photo editing software, even Paint although if your computer has Microsoft Office Picture Manager, it will be easier.

What about file size tho'? I believe there is a 64Kb limit?

Yeah, but at JPEG compression 80x80 should be sufficiently small.

Dear P.O. staff,

You make me sad.

I registered for Topix on Sunday. I made a post. (I can't even remember what it was about, which means it was benign.) It showed up maybe 30 minutes or so more later --okay, weird, but whatever.
Tried to post on the Fire Hall vandalism story and wasn't able to. It was not a horrible post, I wasn't nasty (okay, I *may* have said the Fire Chief was a sissy for calling some minor vandalism a terrorist act, but that's beside the point because it didn't even show up!!) I have not been able to post on anything at all. AND now my profile is saying that I've never posted.

Then you go and rub salt in the wounds by publishing a Weddle letter?!!
I'm on the verge of a tantrum here.

Why do you hate me?!!

I'm not inflammatory! For the most part, I'm a good girl. I may occassionally become a bit heated, but I behave much better than some and that Fire Hall post (which I shall post below) wasn't even that bad.
I’m allowing stupid cookies and I’ve tried different browsers and, and, and--- this sucks!

I want to post!!!

This is torture! You can’t just allow someone to comment on news of the day, get them used to it and then snatch it back! Indian Givers!! If my head explodes the brain matter is on your hands, Public Opinion. (Publishing a Weddle letter…really now!)

P.S. I’m using a previously created board because I don’t want us getting too cluttered in here…See?!! I’m a good person, I recycle!!!

Our jails our full and you want to throw some underage punk in there.
Yeah, I want to pay for HIS stay instead of a more serious criminal. Please think before you post.
And the Fire Chief is a sissy if he thinks this was terrorism. Oh and I'm pretty sure stupid doesn't always show up on a background check, especially when it's young stupid.
As for you, Paulie-boy, check your law before you develop diarrhea of the mouth (or in this case, fingers.)
You've got no case...unless you want to go after the fire sissy for calling you a terrorist.
Of course, I suppose all those emergency responders really were terrified by some spilt baking powder and mayo. Or maybe they were more scared of the idjit that left the door unlocked with all that expensive equipment inside.

.45
lost some respect for you on your topix post about the firehall incident.
I have enjoyed most of your poast on the forums maybe it was ou lowered yourself to the rest of the gang on topix so I'll let this one slide.
The kid made a mistake don't take it out on tha chief, after all he is the only paid person on the vol. dept. and he was probabley more hurt by the kids actions because of the trust they had instilled. In todays world it is not uncommon for some sort of terroristic charge to be added to almost any charge even a simple assault charge.
Remain positive

Irish,

You certainly have the right to your opinion. I welcome your expression of it. I do, however, feel the need to point out something I thought was obvious...I don't post to win respect. I doubt there is a person on here who does. (If there is, please step forward, so that I may mock you.)

My unposted Topix post was meant to be fourth, but certainly not meant to be defensive of the kid.
And he is a kid. He may be legally an adult, but the behavior of a child was described and a child is posting under the name of Paul Jennings. I can only hope those continuing to taunt him are also children. Yes, my post was antagonistic. I regret sniping back at Paulie.

I'm having a hard time regretting the rest tho'

Why shouldn't a goofy kid be released on his own recognizance? He got drunk and did something stupid. (Yeah, none of us have ever been young, drunk or stupid! Confused ) For that he should sit in jail, on the taxpayer's dime, until trial? Or help to line some bondsman's pocket?

You don't think priorities are a tad misplaced?

I understand the Chief being hurt. Feeling betrayed is crappy to put it mildly. But any pity I might have had went out the door with this

Quote:
"I'm not thrilled that a district justice let him off on his own recognizance when he comes in and commits an act of terrorism," Fire Chief Stoner said. "That's what I consider it, an act of terrorism."

Terrorism.

I had a friend who was a nurse at a family planning clinic (yeah, that's an abortion clinic) that was bombed. Now her son doesn't have a Mommy.

I had just left the Olympic Park in Atlanta before it was bombed by the same man.

I'm not even going to bore you with the details of Oklahoma City, workplace, school and courtroom shootings and mail bombs. I won't even bother with the Trade Center or other countries who have to deal with nightmarish situations like the above EVERY day.

I am familiar with people who have been charged with terroristic threats and actions for verbal or physical threats. I did not read a thing about the jerk-wad threatening anyone. (Except on Topix, of course)
Yeah, I get the whole terroristic charge applied to everybody thing. That doesn't make it right.

It's cheap and lazy.
Not to mention an insult to every victim, every survivor, every family member or friend ever touched by terrorism.

And the Fire Chief should know that.

I have to agree with chel here. Using the term terrorism in this way is shameful, particularly for a public servant (paid member of a volunteer fire dept. or not). I think he should make a public apology for so crassly marginalizing a term that is still so sensitive to many Americans. Yet on the other hand, half the people in town are complaining about overcrowding in the jail (and the money they have to pony up to alleviate that) and the other half are complaining about people being let off by local judges!

Look, I think we need to take a step back and really, truly consider how lucky we are to live in a relatively safe area. It's still a small town society around here and that means much of the crime is going to be kids getting drunk and doing stupid things. That's life and it's been happening for decades. But if this kid didn't hurt anyone, and he didn't, and is truly remorseful, I'd much sooner save my tax dollars to be spent on throwing a violent offender in jail.

How many people in Franklin County do you think hit their wives and don't end up in jail for it? Now that's terror.

Terrorist was a poor choice of words...Dusty is a good guy.

Remember - print quotes can be taken out the contextual moment and sound alot different. He just a fire chief - not a media spokesperson...

And I think they disabled avatars on this board...scardeycats!

Chel~~Me thinks thou dost protest too much.

The chief has every right to be upset, the kid violated the trust put in him by the fire company, did $4,000 worth of damage and then sort of said 'Oh Gee I'm sorry.'
Perhaps the PO reporter should use a little restraint in quoting in cases like this.

From what I can tell - the PO editors/writers go out of their way to stir the pot.

The terrorist remark added nothing to essence of the story...and was likely included only because it would add some sensationalism.

Not even sure we used the word "Terrorist" during the recent spate of school threats!
