Cheerwine!!!
Now that stuff is hard to find! My Dad and I would go to this shotgun shack style gas station and get a few bottles as a treat (yes, bottles!!)
Last time I was in GA, I found it in cans--it wasn't the same though
Surge was evil. Vault isn't much better, IMO. _________________ Nevermind. |

Cheerwine is in the vending machine at work. Once the Mt. Dew runs out, people start getting desperate, and the Cheerwine comes out. I haven't tried it yet, but some people can't get enough of it. I've seen cases of it at a few convenience and grocery stores, but it kind of scares me.
Sun Drop is disgusting. |

| Quote: | | Cheerwine is fairly unusual amongst sodas for what the company calls its "cherry taste and rich burgundy color." Cheerwine has a very sweet cherry flavor and an unusually high degree of carbonation compared with many other soft drinks. |
You southerners and your sweet tooths (teeth?).
| Quote: | | Sun Drop is a citrus-flavored soda produced by Cadbury-Schweppes. Like other citrus sodas, it has a yellowish-green color... It has a sharper taste than Pepsi's Mountain Dew or Coca-Cola's Mello Yello, and is known for its high caffeine...and sugar content. |

I had more hope for the cherry-flavored Sun Drop, but even that is gross. The regular Sun Drop is really, really nasty. And I was previously a fan of Surge, so that should tell you how bad this stuff is.
But in case anyone feels left out, you can apparently buy cases of this stuff online at sundrop.net. |

As a newbie, I'm playing ketchup/catch-up on this thread.
For nostalgia - yes, I remember Hoover's with great fondness. I painted a picture of their "whopper" - does anyone remember what it was called? This was back in the day before the fast foods exploded onto the local scene. Dairimaid - I knew the owner Mr Beardslee - loved his chicken salad! In the mid-60s there was also a "fine dining" restaurant called The Ranch, a smorgasbord NOT a buffet.
Coppy, this town has a history of ethnic restaurants. Cat's Thai House occupied what is now Emily's. Oki's was an Indonesian restaurant that enjoyed a long run. Opened in the early 1970s and closed in the late 1990s.
Hamilton Heights does have a strong and loyal fan base, sadly I am not among them. I stopped in for bottled water, saw the crowds at the hoagie counter and made mental note to return. Sorely disappointed - mediocre lunch meat on soft bread roll. They reminded me of hoagies served in the high school cafeteria - before our taste buds experienced anything better.
Hoagies/cheesesteaks - Pizza Factory on South Main off the Square. I haven't been in awhile. They changed their hours and I haven't figured them out yet. I've never eaten in Philly so have nothing to compare PF's to, but I find them tasty and consider them the best I've found in this area.
The new bistro - I haven't seen the Lahrs recently - I'll try to find out what progress is being made.
Someone spare me the mindless task of looking this up for myself - where in the heck is KENNY'S? I probably drive pass it daily
Pepper
P.S. Caffeine gives me the tremors - not just my hands/fingers but my whole insides start quivering. |

| Kenny's is on Rt. 11 north of Chambersburg. If you're heading north, it's after Red Bridge and before the McDonalds and it's on the right. |

Pepper, what you say about Hamilton Heights is what I'm afraid of... confirmation that local tastes are, well, bland. I'm still goint to try it although I live nowhere near it.
I've heard about the Thai restaurant that used to occupy Emily's, and I've actually heard (although I'm not sure) that the previous owners now work at Brake's Coffee Roasters' Asian food market. I only wish that you could still get Indonesian food!
Pizza Factory is up next against Edith's Pizza for me in the pizza tournament... by the way, Pat & Carla's (the original) beat Assante's Pizza tonight in a close matchup.
Let us know what you hear about the new Bistro... I hope that have a good beer selection. |

Hamilton Heights is noooo where like school subs! Couldn't you come up with something else to compare it too? They are unique and have avery different taste than else where.
It isn't Quizmo's or subway but better.
It sounds to me that Pepper never tried them just assumed.
I get soo annoyed with people who critized things they have NEVER tried.
Has anyone been to the H-town's Olive Garden yet? _________________ I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?

| Sorry, Me!!!!!!!!, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and you are in the wrong for taking personal offense and attacking me. I would NEVER criticize (or compliment) an establishment without trying their wares. Hamilton Heights does a thriving business and will not suffer from the lack of my business. But I swear their hoagies remind me of what I was served at CASHS cafeteria back in the day, the hoagies we would sell for class projects/fund raisers. The place is always crowded so my opinion must be that of the minority. But I'm still entitled to express it. |
