If we get to deport people like that then I'm all for it!

And what about people who desecrate the American flag by using it's likeness as shirt material, or even worse...underwear.
Yes. Please sjhow your love of our country by using an image of our flag to cover your hairy, pasty, pimply behind.

God Bless America!!

I went to the site, jw. The caption was as good as the picture:

Excellent point: In Houston, a Texan protesting amnesty for illegal immigrants argues that anyone who can't master English doesn't deserve to live in America.

I think if we demanded that everyone speaks english in this country, we would be going against everything this country was built on. I do have to admit though it is irritating when people cannot understand me when I talk... ofcourse they can speak english.... so i dont know where that leaves me

I think that unifying our language would prove beneficial to our coutry as a whole for the reason that with a common language, everyone could easily communicate. That would lessen some of the predudice against Latinos. So I say that English should be mandatory for LEGAL immigration.

This country was founded for two purposes:
1st, to make profit for england

2nd, to get unwanted social detritus(puritins) out of England

and also built with the help of many slaves, who were forced to adopt our language and religion.
Whether or not it is a good thing, making english the official language would be in line with this nation's origins.
And why is it bad? In Germany you take the driver's test in German, or you don't drive.

I also think that making English the "official" language is nothing but an arbitrary, time-wasting piece of legislation to make people feel better. There's no way that we can enforce some sort of "ban" on speaking a foreign language. I agree that you should speak English, at least at a competent level, to become a US citizen, but the official language thing is just a bunch of hooey rhetoric. It means nothing.

I also agree that forcing people to speak a specific language is about an un-American as anything I've ever heard... land of the free, home of the brave? Yeah, only if you speak English! Doesn't sound like what our founding father's intended...

Then how many different languages showed Government employees be forced to know in order to serve the people?

How many additional positions need to be added at the local level in order to accomodate non english speaking individuals?

Again remember in order to do this it means increased taxes.

How many new teachers do we hire in order to teach classes in a different language and what language?

Well, it all comes down to how accommodating we are. I don't know if you've notice, but here in Franklin County, there aren't a lot of people bending over backwards to speak Spanish. In other words, if you don't speak English here, you're at a major disadvantage. That should be the motivation for learning English, which no matter what anyone says, is the language we speak.

Businesses don't have to use bi-lingual signs, but they do because they actually WANT people to shop at their store, no matter what language they speak. And again, I think it would cost far more money to mandate a language.
