I have a love for old movies that, I think, superceeds my love for all other things, living or otherwise. I was pleasantly supprised when a couple of complilation dvds I bought from kmart contained Nosferatu, Metroplis, Dementia 13, and The Lost World.
Why aren't movies like this made anymore? (other than that we don't make silent movies anymore)
I say we forgive Germany for WWII if they go back to making these movies again.
The triplets of Bellville proves a silent movie made in mobern times can be good, and Sincity shows black and white is bretty ***'n _________________ "Nothing is more precious to me than the smile of a child"- Joseph Stalin |

I am to agreeing with you here.
Nosferatu is such a bangin' movie...
Oh, and I agree that B&W done right can succeed...
SinCity2 next year, as well as The Spirit...both B&W _________________ You can lead a fish out of water...but you can't make him breathe. |

this movie club I go to in Shipp, they refuse anything but subtitles because they're more true to the originals when translated.
and Ducky, what abotu The Watchmen? not black and white, but another comic book movie due out soonish _________________ "Nothing is more precious to me than the smile of a child"- Joseph Stalin |

Hmm, I have seen prevs. for The Watchmen...never really read much on it, but from the bits, seems to be very promising and I may just have to find somewhere to read a bit of them online or sit on the BnN floor for a few hours "perusing"
I too am a fan of subtitles...But mostly I see subtitled films from the Asian perspect...such as Hero and House of Flying Daggers. _________________ You can lead a fish out of water...but you can't make him breathe. |

thats like over an hour away. srry, I'll just browse the indy films On-Demand or at the bargin bin at blockbuster.... where like half of my dvds come from
and I don't get blue-ray, I don't see the point. I was watching it in bestbuy and it almost looked too real, like it wasn't a movie. _________________ "Nothing is more precious to me than the smile of a child"- Joseph Stalin |
