Public Opinion Online
During my campaign for Mayor I promised, if elected, to set up an "Ask the Mayor" blog on the Borough website. I'm pleased to announce that thanks to the work of the folks in the Borough IT Office the blog is now up and operating. You can access the blog from either the Borough website, http://www.borough.chambersburg.pa.us, the Police Department website, http://www.chambersburgpolice.com, or by going to the blog directly at http://chambersburgmayor.blogspot.com
Once there you'll be instructed on how to sign in and post comments.
For those of you not familiar with blogs, they are online Internet forums where people can "virtually" talk to each other, or listen to people talking to each other, about anything and everything. Most online blogs focus on specific areas of interest, e.g. politics, religion, entertainment, etc. Our blog will focus primarily on issues affecting the borough and the surrounding area. It is intended to open a dialogue among the people of our community and hopefully will allow us to not only discuss the challenges facing the borough but also identify ways to meet these challenges. The blog works under the assumption that you don't have to be the mayor, a borough councilman, or other public official to be concerned about the borough and have ideas about how to improve it.
Be aware that while comments can be submitted anonymously those comments that detract from, rather than contribute to, the dialogue we are hoping to establish will not be posted. The blog is a public forum. Please use language and present your ideas in a manner appropriate for such a forum.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Mayor
Borough of Chambersburg |
This poor, poor man. He doesn't realize the can of worms he has opened.
I wish him all the luck and alot of aspirin---I think he will need both.
So let us all give a "Yay for Mr. Mayor!!" for thinking of something so nice and hope that certain residents do not ruin it for the rest of us or cause this man to become bitter!

I'm not so bad
I think that this is a great idea and the perfect way for people to voice legitimate concerns. This has opened a can of worms though, if trying to have a civil discussion with someone on Topix is any indication.
I'll tell you what, once people catch wind of this, it's going to be constant, never-ending complaints about taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes and more taxes. And that's it, that's all people have to complain about. So instead of actually making suggestions that could potentially help our community, those which the mayor may actually have control over, people are just going to be rude and repetitive.
I hope they prove me wrong. |
