The night before last I was in the Sheetz over on Norland and witnessed some really bad State Police behavior. And I would have liked to report it but was afraid of them harassing me in the future. And do State Police arrest their own?
STORY:
A young man accidently knocked over something on the counter. Two men in baseball caps ( for less typing lets call them MBCs) started yelling at him while he was picking up the items. He yelled back at them. But they kept at him until he left the store. They (MBCs) then were told by two other young men to leave the first guy alone. The MBCs started yelling at them and getting up in their faces and pointing fingers in thier faces. The manager ( ?) of the store got in between the men and tried to stop what was going to escalate into a fight. The young men left and got into thier truck. The MBCs then followed them out and opened thier truck doors and started trying to pick a fight again! They ( MBCs ) got into thier own small dark colored truck and drove off. They were obviously very drunk.
Well those MBCs were the State Police off duty drunk trying their hardest to start a fight with someone! and to top it off they were driving drunk. So who would I have reported it to? It really upsets me that someone could have gotten very hurt. Esp the fact they were driving drunk. Plus to try to start a fight in a store in which there were patrons and some being children who obviously had been traveling for the holiday as one was sleeping in a blanket with her father carrying her, this all has really upset me. |

Yes the state police will arrest their own. How did you know they were State Police?
Also you can call 911 from your car give, give them the information you wrote here and let the local authorities know the vehicle, plate number and the direction of travel and they take care of the rest.
State Police off duty are under the same laws as you and me. |

State Police ON duty are under the same laws too. Certain laws provide them specific exemptions for certain things, but they must adhere to the statute and do not have authority to make up their own exceptions as needed.
Unless you have specific info to clearly identify who these individuals were, filing a complaint won't be possible. You may wish to contact the local barracks (if you even know which one they are stationed out of) and lodge your general concern with the Station Commander.
On the off chance that some future board reader will have a more specific ability to follow-through, I'll post the following links:
PSP Complaint Procedures
PSP Complaint Verification Form
Don't forget, if you encounter an officer that goes above and beyond, they also have a 'compliment' procedure as well. Info for that can be found at the first link above. _________________ Author assumes full responsibility for the content of their posts. Thanks for the info. |

CROOKS WITH BADGES!!!
So, if these guys were State Police, and they broke the laws, then they should honestly step forward and arrest themselves as a testament to the integrity of the PSP.

They are above the law. Any investigation will be swept quietly under the rug. If anything were to come of it, we would never know.
All that we could hope for is the PO to investigate and the Sheetz people and vicitms of the incident came forward.
I'd be suprised if any of that happened.
So until then, keep your head down and bow in their presence. |
