Hey Shippensburg!
Halloween is on a Thursday this year...why isn't "Trick or Treating"?
What is wrong with having Halloween ON Halloween? For heavens sake, it's a kids night, and only from 6 - 8 in the evening. Let them have it on the right night.

It is an odd Franklin County practice to have trick or treating on a night other than Halloween.
So the night varies from community to community. Maybe some familes travel around and participate on different nights?
In my community, van-loads of kids are dropped off on my street. I have no idea where they're from. |

That's just poor parenting! Trick or treating is for kids, not 13-20 year-olds who often show up at the doors.
When I was little, my parents stopped allowing me to go out at 6th grade. That's what I did with my kids, now I have a grandchild who has followed the tradition.

 Last year I had alot of "strange" teenage kids showing up at my door and I had aspecial basket.....one piece where as smaller kids got the already prepared bags I had ready. I wonder how many I'll get this year. It is for little kids!!  |

| You know, they make these really nasty tasting vitamin powder sticks that look just like pixie sticks. It'd be umm a shame if some of those made it into the Trick or Treat bags of those older kids |

Too bad they cost so much. Besaides, you would run the risk of a possible overdose of some vitamin.

Do what my neighbor does. He saves all his mustard and ketchup packets for the whole year. When he gets the older kids, and the ones who do not dress up, that is what they get,lol

They claim it's all about safety, traffic, and darkness (Day-light savings time used to be earlier until Bush moved it back to conserve energy)...anyhow, if you'd research the issue, I'm sure you would find newspaper articles about this...bottom line, the police chiefs signed some agreement and it's been that way ever since...the local communities really have no say in the matter (from what I understand)... |

What is the deal with Daylight Saving Time being extended? Was it Bush's idea? Does it really save energy?

Why can't we just tell people to conserve energy? Oh, there goes that social responsibility thing again... nah, lets just ask them to change their clocks later. I can tell you this; folks that work in certain industries have been effected very negatively by this change. |

You know, I have one of those "dry erase" calendars. I looked up the other day and noticed that I wrote the 26th down TWICE!!! I guess, I must have liked that day, or something. Boy did I feel stupid!
About the Daylight Savings thing...
Didn't they try that about 30 something years ago, sometime in the mid 70's? I remember it causing a big problem with kids going to school in the dark. Maybe that was the year it went to all year Daylight Savings? Any help?

ummm, No help really, but Ben Franklin thought up Daylight Savings in order to save candles.
Please take my useless knowledge and keep it for your own!
