As someone who grew up in Shipp ( well Leesburg) I can tell you that after living in four different states and a couple of Major cities that I find myself as I get near 40 missing Shippensburg more than ever. Here are some of the positives of The Burg
1-Safety:There has been many cities that I lived in (Jacksonville, Harrisburg) that if my car broke down that I would not be happy in. I cant think of an area that if I broke down in Ship day or night that I would not be worried about getting mugged.
2- Location: Hey if you don't mind a drive you can do day trips to: Harrisburg, Baltimore, DC, Pittsburgh, and Philly just to name a few
3- State Parks: want to get the family together and have a picnic without paying Hershey Park Fees? Try Pinchot State Park, Pine Grove Furnace, Big Spring, Caledonia, Colonel Denning, and Little Buffalo.
4- Mountains: maybe it is just me but on a Sunday to take a trip through the mountains is fun
5- Fire halls: Ok another one from me being Country but Bingo, breakfasts, and Dinners at the fire halls in Walnut Bottom are great
6- Community: after living in some Major cities I can appreciate the smaller town feel, Memorial Park, and eating at The Treat or Diffy's and knowing 70% of the people eating there.
Here is just a small sample and I hope some will add more.

I can't disagree with any of this; Shippensburg really is a great place. My favorite part is that it's the kind of town you can walk from one end to the other on a nice day and see things that are familiar and different all at the same time. Maybe that doesn't make sense, but maybe you'll know what I mean if you're from there.
In any case, I lived there for a few years and I do miss being able to walk or ride my bike around town. It always struck me as very quiet, peaceful and clean, especially in the summertime, but even when college is in session.
Oh, and don't forget goggles man's house. |

I know exactly what you mean about the walk. The town is very quiet and peaceful, I don't know if it is still this way but at midnight the red lights would blink because they was so little traffic that it made no sense to have them working. Most of the "issues" is usually college kids just being college kids, nothing bad just having some fun. |

If I get back home I might check those out. My wife likes Carlisle but it seems to have gotten worse over the last 10 ears |
