I wouldn't go patting Comcast on the back; the lack of real competition and service bundling gives them a quasi-monopoly and the ability to overcharge for the service.
Verizon continues to lay fiber optic cable which is considerably faster than DSL and currently offered for less money. Of course, we probably won't see that since we're serviced exclusively by Embarq (which has no plans for running fiber and does not offer toneless DSL). Area's serviced by Comcast and Verizon FiOS would probably find that Comcast internet costs less there than here because of the direct competition.
Believe it or not, there still a good deal of rural people without access to any broadband connection.
Comcast's Internet was also screwed up for the better part of today (that's why you couldn't check your email cookie). Seems as if it affected everyone in the Comcast network that runs their service through the Philadelphia hub.
An annoying hiccup, but particularly when I'm paying as much as I am for the glorious "privilege" of having broadband Internet.

Most of the major cable companies "agreed" not to invade each other areas so they could win the war against the Dish people. _________________ Read My Blog

The guild has been learning Karazhan this week.
And by "learning" l mean racking up immense repair bills. Moroes is exceeding difficult for the undergeared. _________________ "The Master would not approve..." |

i don't think you do.
hey, torgo....we have a convert.....
now, we just need YOU CHEL.
lol....
so, we tried magisters terrace again. we're just too squishy. WAY too squishy. UM WAY SQUISHY.
2 priests. 2 druids. 1 war (we tried a war instead of our lock). ugly as sin.
then.
2 priests, a war, a mage and a druid. ugly ugly.
so the mage tried it and the tank was a pally and the healer was a pally and they breezed thru it. further proof that blizz HATES PRIESTS.
my priest. just good for gold farming. lol....
what's kara like? we're mostly pvp and rarely raid. |

It's really amazingly cool.
After several frustrating raids, the guild finally rolled in there this week and downed Attumen, Moroes, Maiden of Virtue and the Opera Event. Seriously, look up the Opera Event on Wowiki or something, everyone was saying how it was one of their greatest video game moments ever. Basically, you clear your way through three bosses to a theater, and every time the instance resets you can encounter boss mobs based on one of three possible stories — the Wizard of Oz, Red Riding Hood (the one we drew, and yes the wolf is big AND bad) and Romeo and Juliet...
You need 10 for Kara. It's probably a bit easier than Magister's, but there's still a decent learning curve and mobs still hit VERY hard. But the overall variety and creativity of the encounters is amazing. _________________ "The Master would not approve..." |

kara is one of the 'end game' (at least at this time...hehe...we all know this game never ends...d*mn you blizzard!) instances...sweet drops, etc. hard bosses. gots to go in w/a group.
my guild is pvp oriented (as in, we like to do battlegrounds, or, um...well, ok, once in a while we get itchy and rubble up some trouble...BUT...we only pick on people our level...hehe) and we don't do many instances/raids. we're a small guild....like tonight i was the only one on until about...8:30...then 2 ppl came. then we all logged together. raids/instances usually require alot more than that. some raids can be 40 man in size.
kara's tricky. i'd like to see it. but....thinking i probably won't. because i'll be in a bg instead. lol. i did the first quest for attunement. and i have the 2nd key fragment but not the 3rd. the guy i was doing those quests w/quit playing. darn him. oh wells.
anywhoo:
http://www.wowhead.com/?zone=2562
and from what torgo recommended:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Kara
want more but don't know how to play or what to expect...i found a n00b guide for ya:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Newbie_guide
and for those who play, this is something we'll never see:
sigh. back to my hunter. camping him in 20s for bgs. eventually go to 40s bgs w/him. |
