So, um, yeah. Hard to know what to say about it. Well, I thought the candidates handled themselves pretty well. The moderators, on the other hand... I was disgusted, frankly. Two-hour prime-time debate, and we got, what, 20 minutes on the real issues?
I mean, seriously. Do any of the Democrats on here actually plan to decide their vote based on the absence or presence of lapel pins? |

Absolutely not.
And, the lapel pin thing, in my opinion, is about as republican redneck as you can get. Anyone who would make an issue out of, say, lapel pins, or putting your hand over your heart during the national anthem [NOT the pledge of allegiance], religious ambiguity, or a nutjob preacher would never vote democrat anyway.
The debates now are for registered democrats in PA to decide between Clinton and Obama; and for moderate voters who may have a hard time deciding between one of them and McCain.
I can totally understand the headbutt nature of politics when it comes to the economy, especially taxes and health care, or state's rights vs. those of the executive branch and government. But lapel pins? Are you patriotic enough? How many magnetic ribbons does your car have?
That's nothing but garbage. |

I couldn't bring myself to watch it, but today I read that Hillary won.

He said she seemed very comfortable with the gotcha-game, politics-as-usual, issue-free format. I've got to say, I think Obama does a pretty good job staying out of the muck. Seems like swimming upstream, but he's doing pretty well. I respect that. |
