"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, fear of getting down-sized or fired because of the plunging economy, fear of getting evicted for bad debts or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer."
—Hunter S Thompson February 3, 2003

Not really a quote but....

Just wanted to clear up a decades old mystery: the Real lyrics to "Louie Louie, by the Kingsmen. Forgive the lower casing. It was a lot to type and I get blind when I'm tired. Here they are: (if you already know them, disregard this post.)

a-louie louie, oh no, said we gotta go.
yeah yeah yeah yeah y'a said-a
louie louie, oh, baybay, said-a we gotta go

a fine little girl, she waitin' for me,
me catch a ship a-cross the sea,
I sail that ship, a-all alone,
we never think how i'll make it home.

a-louie louie, yeah nah nah now,
said-a we gotta go, ohhh no,
said louie louie, oh, babay, said- a we gotta go.

(ahh,) three days and nights i sail the sea,
me think a girl ahh constantly,
ah on that ship, i dream she there,
i smell the rose, ahh, in her hair.

a-louie louie, woe no, said-a we gotta go,
yeah yeah yeah yeah y'a said-a
louie louie, oh, babay, said we gotta go.

(ok let's give it to 'em right now)

(guitar solo)

me see....................

me see Jamaica, a moon above,
it won't be too long me see me love,
me take her in my arms again,
i tell her "i'll never leave you again".

a-louie louie oh no, said we gotta go.
yeah yeah yeah yeah y'a said-a
louie louie, woe babay, said-a we gotta go.
i said-a we gotta go now.

(let's go hustle on outta here...)

LET's GO!!!

********************************

The kingsmen were not dirty boys. The FBI spent a bunch of money investigating the song to prove it's "obscene" lyrics.

There are over 35 incorrect lyric lines associated with this song, most of them lewd lines.

Written in 1955 by Rich Berry, it is a Jamaican sea chanty about a sailor who can't wait to go home to see his girl. Louie is the bartender to whom the sailor is telling his story.

wakka wakka..........

hum.....

lots of quotes via lyrics i like...here are some of my fav:

"you change like sugar cane"
Says my northern lad
I guess you go too far
When pianos try to be guitars

(tori amos, northern lad)

I knew a boy who would
Not share his bike
Oh but he let me go sailing
I swore that I could survive any storm
Oh then he let me go

(tori, snow cherries from france)

Twenty-five seconds to live and I'm falling down
There the darling goes, magnetics that are pulling her down
Twenty-five seconds to live and I'm waving high
All this white's a thrill
Turning just to give us the sign

And what I never had were pictures passing by
Forces that make your way down
And what I had between the things I never tried
Was you reaching out in hopes that you could grab
Forces that make your way down
I'd say that's better 'cause at least I know you tried

(mates of state, parachutes (funeral song)

My Arab brother put this in his Annual (Yearbook): "You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but, you can't pick your friends nose."

So, the next year I quoted him, then added, "Who says so?"

"May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the hairs of the pit of your arms."

I can't pick a favorite! That's like asking which oxygen molecules I prefer. (I do prefer my oxygen as a couple, but that's beside the point!)

Which few dozen I narrow it down to depends upon my mood.

Hope? Rage? Disgust? Listless? Spirited? Mentally beat down? Emotionally uplifted? Actively looking for my Will or just putting up 'LOST' signs?

Or am I some mystery combo that minute?
Visiting the Moody Buffet, trying a little bit of everything plus the server forgot to wash his hands, so add a little more unknown into the mix.

The rest of you make it look so easy.

Every normal man must, at times, be tempted to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag and begin slitting throats. ~~ H. L. Mencken

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day - give a man a religion and watch him starve to death while praying for a fish.

You won't rise to the occasion - you'll default to your level of training.

If, after I depart this vale, you ever remember me and have thought to please my ghost, forgive some sinner and wink your eye at some homely girl. ~~H. L. Mencken

Giving every man a vote has no more made men wise and free than Christianity has made them good. ~~H. L. Mencken
(^Lately, this one reminds me of jtb on Topix. Every time I read his posts, I feel so much disgust that it makes my head hurt.)

“He couldn’t make a sentences stand up and be noticed if he put Viagra in the ink.” ~~Law&Order C.I. episode

Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds...

Written laws are like spiders' webs, and will, like them, only entangle and hold the poor and weak, while the rich and powerful will easily break through them.

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. ~~ Voltaire

When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross. ~~Sinclair Lewis

Well, what I'm sayin' is that there are known knowns, and there are known unknowns, but there are unknown unknowns. Things that we don't know that we don't know. ~~Gin Rummy

Game recognize game and you lookin' kinda unfamiliar right now.

No one ever said faith was complicated. One of the reasons people have faith is because facts are complicated.
It's the difference between explaining something using the scientific method or by simply saying "God did it." ~ Coppy

Those in power write the history, those who suffer write the songs.

Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
~~ William Shakespeare

So don't tell me the flag is just a colored piece of cloth. That red is the blood of those who fought for your freedoms. Those stars the heroes who have come before us. The white the purity of those young men and women in bootcamp now who are giving up their childhoods to protect the country they love. No it isn't just a pledge to a piece of cloth, maybe it is a pledge, or a promise to those who have come before.
