According to the website of the Commonwealth Department of State election returns, Democratic challenger Tony Barr received more votes in the April 22nd primary than did the incumbent Bill Shuster (R PA09). Tony Barr received 57,489 votes, while Shuster received only 56,921 votes. While hardly a landslide, the 1% Barr edge going into the general election makes an upset in the 9th District a distinct possibility.

“Obviously, we have a lot of work to do” Barr said, “but we are eager to bring our message to the voters in the 9th District. The Bush/Shuster era hasn’t been good for the 9th District and we are confident that the voters are looking to make a change, but we still have some work to do”

It would certainly be impressive if a Democratic challenger beat out a Republican incumbent with a name like Shuster in Franklin County. (See ya'll, I'm learning stuff!)

Campaign-wise, if Barr's message appeals to Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans he could very well swing it.

I hope he doesn't fall into the old game of party rhetoric and same old party lines. We need politicians who can work together and think for themselves.

Personally, I'm rooting for Barr, not only because I am more inclined to agree with his positions, but also because Shuster irritates me greatly. Very Happy (At least I'm honest!)

I'm willing to do anything that I can to help Tony Barr beat Bill Schuster... just about anything. I don't think there's any possible way he can win, even as a moderate democrat. But Schuster has served us so poorly for so long; I keep up with congressional votes and I've been sorely disappointed. He's a partisan hack and a Bush lackey.

It's time get someone knew... VOTE BARR!
