Can we have a hint? |

Mexico: America's beard. |

Oh please, I've seen the citizens. With a population like us, America's lucky to have not sunk; forget contortions! _________________ Nevermind. |

Leave it to Grandma!
A: On that date an unusual darkening of the sky occurred over the New England states and parts of Canada. It was caused by a combination of smoke from extensive forest fires, a thick fog, and heavy cloud cover. The darkness was so complete that candles were required at noon. The darkness was seen as far north as Portland, Maine, and southward to New Jersey, but Pennsylvania was not affected.
It began in Cambridge, Massachusetts, between 10 and 11 AM, and continued into the middle of the next night. Most people found the phenomenon baffling and inexplicable, and applied religious interpretations to the event and a fulfillment of an end-times prophecy.
The Connecticut legislature in Harvard moved to adjourn because it was thought that the Day of Judgment was at hand. It was opposed by Col. Abraham Davenport, who said that he chose to be found doing his duty. His idea prevailed; candles were brought in and the session continued. Afterwards, John Greenleaf Whittier wrote a poem memorializing Davenport's stand.
Not only was it a 'neat' event, but citizen reaction and Davenport's argument were quite interesting to me! _________________ Nevermind. |

This visual has been stuck in my head since I read this---can I get a mind wipe, please?! BTW in my head, America has the facial features of Castro and Uncle Sam melded, I didn't do it on purpose, I don't know how I came to that conclusion...analyze. _________________ Nevermind. |

Q: The dictionary defines the term "jerkwater" as insignificant and out-of-the-way, especially as applied to small towns. What is its origin? _________________ Nevermind. |
