I'm willing to bet, also, that the 99.99 from Embarq does not include the mandatory local calling service in order to subscribe to DSL.

It would have to because the $99.99 is for DSL, Phone, and Dish wouldn't it? There are two catches for me, one is I know that where we are moving has phone jacks in almost every room, but I dont know what rooms have cable outlets. Also Embarq emplyess peple top work from home BUT you have to use embarq service

I refuse to use Comcast. I have never been fond of any cable company, they all act just alike.

Our DSL is fine for our needs and I just cannot stomach supporting Comcast with my $$

well for $13.95 I would just buy a TIVO and pay the monthly fee than paying Comcast a extra $14.95 a month. Where I live I have Time Warner and I get Cable Internet, Digital Cable w/DVR and Showtime, and unlimited phone calling for $99.95 a month or $112.00 after taxes.

If you want to participate in Web 2.0 (that is, social networking, YouTube, downloading media and streaming) then 768k just won't cut it. And remember, that's a maximum speed guideline... you'll never see speeds as fast as advertised. And DSL speed decreases the farther away you live from the origin station.... that affects things quite a bit in rural areas like this.

I wouldn't recommend anything less than 1.5mbps.

I bet a long distance service plan with Embarq will also skyrocket after the trial period.

You need to go with VoIP for phone service; I hate to say it, but Comcast is really the only option. Which is part of why I hate them, but service is service.
