Yes they absolutely do!
Besides the occasional Taco Hell we haven't gone fast food in a few years, butafter one of my son's baseball games he begged for Wendy's...Sure why not?! Get some fast food fries, a guilty pleasure of mine, all salty and crisp with a little snap of grease in the middle...Those were the nastiest fries I've had in a while!! That just ticks me off.
I've decided I'm not going to just throw gross stuff away anymore...I'm going to return and complain.
Those limited edition bags of Cherry M&Ms they sold at stores...returned. Treats and indulgences are limited and should be special and darnit I'm not going to let them get away with taking my joy of treats AND my money!! _________________ I demand euphoria! |

| what happened to store clerks saying "Thank You"??? my experience is that most clerks say nothing when they give you change. Yesterday, the guy at the register at MCD's threw the change in my hand and said "there you go"... I give up!! |

Haven't you heard, "there ya go" is now synonymous with "thank you."
At least he didn't say "T.Y.!" or "Thx" |

Oh well, I always found people in this area to be relatively rude compared to other places I've been... and by "this area" I do actually mean from here up to Harrisburg and out to Philadelphia. I think Western PA is friendlier. I'm not sure what it is, but there was a long discussion once about people from Franklin County being grumpy, but I think a general feeling of unfriendliness is present in all of central PA... especially to those of us not originally from the area (apparently we stick out like sore thumbs).
That said, i don't expect some kid getting paid next to nothing to do a crappy job to say thank you to me every time I buy something; he's not getting the money. Perhaps the problem now is that not everyone owns their own business anymore. I can understand Bob of Bob's Hardware thanking me if I buy a hammer, but I don't expect some punk kid to thank me when I buy a cheeseburger off the dollar menu at McDonalds (which I would never, ever do by the way... ugh).
Seriously dude, please stop going to McDonalds. This is going to turn into an intervention. |

I grew up in Franklin County, and you're exactly right. The people are typically grumpier than anywhere else I've lived or visited. There's some kind of weird sense of redneck entitlement that a lot of people have. I don't know what that means, but it's the only name I could think of for it.
That said, I still love it there because it's home.
I haven't spent much time in Western Pennsylvania, but going a bit farther west, the people in Northeast Ohio are fabulous. Between there and Eastern North Carolina, friendliest people I've encountered in my travels thus far. |

I am not originally from here and find people are rude. In the store aisles could it hurt for someone to say excuse me? Or even to move out of the way! I don't know if they don't care that they are in the way or if they are in some dazed condition that they don't know I have been standing there trying to excuse myself 30 times while they are comparing items.
I must be the only person around that says excuse me when passing through between a person and an aisle too!
And I hate it when someone much younger than my 53 years calls me hon, honey or sweetie. Have some respect!
Oooh I must sound grumpy! ( as grumpy as a Franklin county native Must be living here to long) sorry for the rant. |

I lived in Western, PA and it was my favorite place ever, but that was from 1979-1981 and the bottom of the economy fell out and I moved back home. But I can say that the people were the nicest ever. Also even though I say how much I hate Ohio I can say that there is something to the "Midwest, John Cougar" attitude here. I mean I lived in HBG then moved to Delaware and when I first got to Ohio I went to the grocery store and the person at the deli knew that I was new in twon and talked to me about the school, local football, good places to eat, and then the same happened at the register. I was still in "City" mode and was like " What the hell people, let me get my stuff and get out!" _________________ I am having brain surgery on 09/26/08 please read my blog to help ease my mind.

No, mymouth, you are not the only one who says excuse me when you pass between people and the shelves. I am a native Franklin Countian, and I too always say excuse me. I don't think that you can lump us all together and think we are all the same. We are not all rednecks/hicks as some of you on here like to think we are.
I, myself, have gone so far as to move the persons cart out of my way if they don't "excuse me" and let me through, especially if they are away from their cart. Some people are just in their own little worlds, I think. They have no one in mind but themselves and that is pretty sad.
I think maybe someone ought to start a forum of good customer service. It seems as if only the bad is brought to the forefront. There has got to be experiences that everyone has had that they have gotten good service or even circumstance where someone has helped you out when you needed it. |

It is even better when people see you have a stroller and the won't hold the door or move soI can get through. Sometimes I wish I had a plow attached to it! _________________ I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?
