I've been using craigslist for several years now; sometimes it's just fun to browse people's descriptions for stuff!
I did read that craigslist may someday be the end of print newspaper's, since much of their revenue is from classifieds. But I'm not sure printed news will ever die... unless the Kindle ever picks up in popularity. |

I don't like the Kindle
I tried, but it doesn't feel right.
I've been ruined by holding books _________________ Nevermind. |

Cookie is less than 3 for books.
yes, there is something to say about the tactile sensation of holding a book in one's hands _________________ "Nothing is more precious to me than the smile of a child"- Joseph Stalin |

| I don't think there will ever be a replacement for books themselves; but I think that the Kindle (or Kindle-like products) may someday take a big chunk out of subscription-based print media like newspapers and magazines. |

it's a more cost efficient delivery method, especially for periodicals. probably what it will mean is we will still have a PO, washington post, nyt, etc, but just as a lot of people read those on the web, a lot will read on a kindle, or a device like a kindle. |

I have used it to find good buys on furniture. To me it is like yard selling but I dont have to drive around. In fact I just used it to hire help with my move. _________________ Read My Blog

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - A couple has been arrested in what Canadian police said on Tuesday was an apparent offer to sell a seven-day-old baby girl on Craigslist for C$10,000 ($10,100).
A woman who saw the offer on the popular website alerted police who tracked down the 23-year-old mother and 26-year-old father using a cell phone number that was listed in the advertisement.
Vancouver police said the couple told investigators the offer was a hoax, but were arrested for public mischief with other criminal charges possible as the investigation continues.
"There are so many questions here," Constable Tim Fanning told reporters.
Police said the advertisement described the baby as "very cute" and "unexpected" and that its parents, who could not afford to care for it, wanted to give it a good home.
The child was put in the care of social workers.

STAMFORD - Police arrested a Bridgeport man who posted an ad on Craigslist.org boasting about the “A plus” marijuana he had for sale, authorities said yesterday.
Officers spotted the ad and e-mailed the alleged dealer, claiming to be a Stamford painting crew interested in buying drugs during a work break, said Lt. Jon Fontneau, commander of the narcotics and organized crime squad.
The link leading to the full advertisement read, “Mary Jane in Fairfield County,” Fontneau said.
The ad offered a half-ounce of “A plus” marijuana for $220 and the same amount of “B plus” marijuana for $160, Fontneau said.
The suspect, Steven Zahorsky, 24, of 820 Thorme St., agreed to sell three-quarters of an ounce of marijuana at the McDonald’s at the Interstate 95 rest area off Exit 13, Fontneau said.
The police arrived just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and called Zahorsky’s cell phone. He answered and agreed to meet at the McDonald’s in 15 minutes.
An undercover officer waited in an unmarked car as Zahorsky arrived in a Lexus.
Zahorsky allegedly walked to the undercover officer’s car window and exchanged the drugs for $320 in cash.
Stamford police, assisted by Darien officers, and arrested Zahorsky, Fontneau said.
Zahorsky said he was there to eat and had no idea why police were arresting him, Fontneau said.
Police found $320 on Zahorsky, Fontneau said. They seized his cell phone and saw the last incoming call came from the undercover officer’s phone.
Zahorsky agreed to let police search his apartment in Bridgeport, where officers found three bags of marijuana and one bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms, Fontneau said. They also seized a shotgun, 118 rounds of ammunition and a digital scale.
Police charged Zahorsky with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of an hallucinogenic, operation of a drug factory and sale of marijuana.
They released Zahorsky when he posted $10,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear Feb. 13 at state Superior Court in Stamford. |
