The problem is serious, but difficult to resolve.
One of the biggest issues to get past is realizing "ferel cats" are not PETS.
But the majoirty of ferel cats come from pets that have been abandoned, so another problem that needs addressed
When someone finds an abandonded pet, the shelter charges ya to drop them off, another problem.
So how is it resolved?
I remember reading that Wisconsin made it LEGAL to shoot ferel cats, but how to you tell the difference between a ferel and domesticated cat? Our cat sometimes looks like it's a ferel cat after it's done mousing in the barn and outbuildings. |

Wouldn't it be easy if all cats had to have a collar. If it didn't have a collar then you could assume that it was a ferral cat.
Dogs have to have collars why not cats?

actually I believe what happened was a professor in wisconsin proposed havign a hunting season for feral cats, and then had multiple death threats on his and his families lives after he threatened cat killing |

So the moral of the story is don't announce that you're killing cats? If you kill 'em quick it's not animal cruelty is it? _________________ Nevermind. |

"If you kill 'em quick it's not animal cruelty is it?"
ummm, yep !! Pretty much sums it up.
And I guess the collar idea might work, but I've seen many animals get out of collars before, so not sure.
So other than pet owners being more responsible, what is the answer?
I mean if ya place a season or make it legal to shoot ferel cats, how can ya tell the difference, 'specially with farm cats that would more than likely be in the same area as many ferel ones????
Farm cats serve a very useful purpose and to all those cat lovers that think they're doing their declawed cats a favor by dropping them off at farms, WRONG ANSWER!! They're at a major disadvantage and have no way to fight against the more agressive farm cats. I've seen it and it ain't pretty !!!!!!!!!!!!! |

The answer really is with the pet owners. If the destruction of feral cats is allowed and you love your animal, you will keep it indoors.
It's too bad the animals cannot be easily traced back to their owners for fines. People seem to learn better when you hit them in their wallets, otherwise they just go get another cat and only the animal suffers. _________________ Nevermind. |

Me,
Are your cats spayed or neutered? Do they have rabies vaccinations? _________________ onewhoknows
