Various power lines are down.

It was also reported that a citizen was using a garden hose to spray water on a power line.....

Hope the firefighter is OK.

I'm not gonna lie, when I heard that I laughed with the same general thought as you.

We lost power as I was getting ready to post (right after MAJ Kong's) so went over to Red Cross and they had already left, so we came back home H put on his Red Cross volly vest, loaded a red backpack with bottled water and we drove over. They have Broad closed from the Wilson Avenue intersection to Second Street. H. trudged off toward the smoke while the boy played in the gutter water caused by the fire hoses (EW.) so we came back here.

I feel slightly guilty for leaving H. behind, but with a half-naked wild boy running around, I figured home was safer.

There were a butt-load of ambulances, I saw two leave with lights on And there was a mess load of firetrucks too. Some little girls playing in a kiddie pool in the house next to Sharpe Elem. came out with fistfuls of frozen popsticks for the firemen and EMS.

One fire police suffered from heat exhaustion another was hit by a vehicle driven by a crazy woman. Both are doing fine.

All of the firefighters who were treated for smoke and heat related conditions are now fine.

It was an extremely hot and humid day. The "Feels-like" temps were near 105 when the first alarm was dispatched. Having to work in that type of heat, as a firefighter only intensifies that.

God bless ALL of those who worked that fire.

I should mention that none of my information came from Hubby. He doesn't talk about it and I don't ask anything other than, "Are YOU okay?"

What I posted was from people returning from the area and talking on the sidewalk.

I know there was on FirePolice on the corner across from Sharpe Elementary that I was worried about. He was a big guy, wearing long dark colored pants and a dark colored shirt, with one measley bottle of water. Poor thing looked absolutely miserable. Sad
