6.7.08 Looks to be the "Grand Opening", London File played there this past weekend. It lists on their site they are open and you can purchase growlers from them ?

I was actually at the event at Black Horse. It had a huge college student turnout, London File rocked, but they ran out of beer a little early... I can say this though, the beer is pretty good. Their watermelon lager was a big hit, but I liked their smoked brown ale.
In any case, this is certainly an exciting step forward for Chambersburg... I can't imagine what kinds of hoops they had to jump through to open in Franklin County. |

So I finally got to sample some of their beer over the weekend. They were bar hopping over the weekend promoting the beer and a few places had it on draft. The only one they had was the White Horse Hefeweizen, which I thought was pretty good. Definitely good enough for me to buy it and support a local business.
I was told that they are technically open now and you can stop by the brewery to purchase growlers and kegs. Again right now all they said they had was the White Horse, but in a few weeks the watermelon lager would be available. Also the grand opening is definitely June 7th and they're supposed to have 9 or 10 different beers. Pretty exciting stuff for Chambersburg I think. |

Definitely exciting stuff for Chambersburg; at least for me. Maybe not for the prude folks.
I saw a White Horse Hefe sign at the cottage the other night, so maybe it will be there. It'll be nice to be able to grab a growler of brewery beer though on my way home from work once in a while. |

| Well I went to the Brewery today to try and pick up a growler, but I guess they weren't open. There were a couple of cars there, but the door was locked and no one answered when I knocked. Maybe they just didn't hear me knock. It is in kind of an odd spot. You have to go back what is basically an alley and then the brewery is on the far side of the building. I walked around like an idiot for about 5 minutes before I figured out where it was in the building. I'd like to get a growler for my camping trip this weekend so I'm gonna try and go back tomorrow or Friday. |

I saw both Roy-Pitz guys this evening at The Cottage; they're obviously still making their rounds trying to get their beers on-tap at local watering holes.
Unfortunately, the tap clogged at The Cottage and the beer was unavailable. |

I had some of their beer at Norland the other week. It was ok...until I found out the price per pitcher: $11.50!
Glad I wasn't buying! |

Yeah, the price seems a little steep. I could understand if it was an IPA or something. Apparently Dakotas charges $6.50 for a pint |

Oh come on guys, it's craft beer made locally. Is your typical light beer really worth its cheapness? Plus there's currently a hop shortage and huge increases in the price of barley.
I do prefer a stronger beer at that price, and I do hope they roll out an IPA or something a bit more hoppy. Hefeweizens have never been my favorite style.
I'll still pay more for good beer any day. |

Oh, I don't mind paying extra for a good craft beer at all, especially something that is made right down the street. In fact anytime I'm out somewhere and they have Roy Pitz I drink at least one to support them, and I've also bought several growlers from them already, which is the best bang for you buck aside from buying a keg.
And Coppy, I believe their IPA will be out in the fall. I'm looking forward to that one as well. The hefeweizen and the watermelon lager are both pretty good, but this hophead needs his IPA's. Also, Roy Pitz has apprently started to grow their own hops as well, but I'm sure it will be a year or so until they'll be able to actually start using them. |
