Read Title And why must I come to my safe spot, The Soapbox, only to be taunted because I have no girlfriend?? No, I will not click there.

sigh

I guess it's better than those ads wanting me to subscribe to Ann Coulter's blog. It bothers me that they think Topix's Public Opinion demo is up for that. Of course, what really bothers me is that much of Franklin County is up for that.

NEWho, please stop teasing me with pics of ugly chicks. (never been a fan of blonds, especially bleach-y ones)

The Herald beat PO to the punch, once again, this time with the opening of Chambersburg's first brewery since it was burned during the Civil War.

We were aware of it. But by some odd logic, the business owners told us they would not give Public Opinion an interview because their product is not available yet. They said they would talk to out-of-town papers, however, because the readers of those papers would not be coming here.

Coppy, the H-M "beats" us on very few relevant stories unless the source gives them special access that he/she will not grant to Public Opinion. Sources "play favorites" among the media like this all the time, usually to punish the one that won't give the source's "spin" or simply in an effort to get the most favorable coverage from the paper that asks the fewest questions.

Why, oh why, did the article about the terroristic elderly Shippensburg woman get yoinked?

Is it because Christy was, indeed, a dude? (Srsly people, don't name your son Christy, that's just setting them up for all kinds of failure!)
Admittedly, it's more interesting when it involves a 70 year old woman and a 66 year old woman, but cranky old people are always newsworthy.

Well, not really, since a lot of old people are cranky (old lady=mean) but the myth of jolly, happy, loving old folks persists and we must work together to dispel such fable before more people are hurt!

Think of the children!!!

Or did the discussion on Topix get a little too Topix-y? (Why do I always miss the 'good stuff'?)

I actually checked the corrections section and read about Tails to Trails and some random (44 year old) dude's waive of hearing, but figured it was possible I missed something...'cause I do that.

Okay, thank you and have a wonderful stress-less day and weekend. Very Happy

Christy is indeed a male. The police report did not list gender. The Patriot-News made the same mistake we did. We pulled the incorrect story from the site and later posted a story with more recent (and correct) information.

Confused

I'm going to take a wild guess that the comments section for
10 held for deportation proceedings wasn't removed because all the sweetness was nauseating....

I have to admit that the only reason I noticed is because one of the rotten parts of me wanted to see what was being said this time. Mad

I hope, whatever all those folks have, is not contagious.

When we start having to delete every other comment on a topic for extreme racism or vulgarity, we take that as a signal that it's time to shut down the commenting. There are plenty of other places on the Internet where people can indulge in the worst kind of ranting. That is not a niche that Public Opinion needs or wants to fill.

As you pointed out, we are fairly tolerant of offensive speech, but there are extremes that we do not intend to nurture on our site.
