I really enjoy how the Norland was designed so that in the AM rush hour and PM rush hour that sun is directly in your eyes as you drive.

This just makes the ride to and from work so much more exciting! I can't see you, you can't see me....it's so much fun!

Yeah, you should only be allowed to drive north from now on. Maybe we can let people drive in reverse towards the south

Yeah, of all the peeves I have, driving into the sun isn't really one of them. Someone, somewhere at some point is going to have to drive into the sun and I doubt it's the highest priority on engineers' minds.

Not having a left turning lane on Walker Rd however is boneheaded. Those vacant houses across from Norland are all tore down now; does this mean a road widening in our future?

You think so? That would be an exciting prospect; that people actual refuse to do things out of spite against an online personality named "Coppy" Razz

It's getting worse by the way; it seems like more people than ever now are turning left onto Norland from Walker. Now THAT I can believe being out of spite.

If I follow 5 cars all the way from Route 30, up Walker to Norland Ave, at least 4 of them will turn left at that light. It's an awful, awful intersection.

I avoid that area totally. The speed limit is 35mph but find someone going that slow when you want to get off of I-81, either direction or turn off of the little extension they cut off of Walker Road to go in either direction.

Junk Yard, I just have to ask... are you able to drive anywhere without getting annoyed or angry?

Copay , copay,copay......we have had this discussion before. If I am going to a far business (Michaels, Kohls,Petsmart) I am going to avoid the light and go to Walker/Norland intersection and turn. Maybe some day you will get your dream with a turning lane. Just have some patience with the whole thing.

Have you ever tried turning left onto Mc Kinley Street from Stouffer...now that is poor planning. I had to turn on a red light after sitting through 3 green lights. No green arrow!!!!!

I know you've said that before Me!!!!!!. I realize your justification and your laziness serves as a huge inconvenience to me. That's all Razz

The McKinley/Stouffer intersection has the same problem; but there are alternative routes there. Why don't people just turn left on Stanley if they know that intersection is a mess at busy hours?

At least that light was put up long before congestion became a real problem there; the light at Walker/Norland was put up a few months ago without any consideration for traffic patterns. When contronted about the problem with people turning left, and PennDot representative said that he assumed people would turn left at Gateway to go shopping on Norland.

He was wrong Me!!!!!, you're proof (but you've said you aren't there around 5 pm when I'm coming home from work, so I guess it's not so bad.)

At least leave a little room so I can wiggle in on the shoulder. Yeah, that's right.

I would greatly appreciate it if everyone would drive this route from now on as to not inconvenience coppy for 10 seconds.

OK, OK, I get it... but in all fairness, if you're just going shopping, you can go straight at the light where Gateway and Norland intersect bringing your right into the shopping center. This light is short and never congested. My persistence in this matter is justified by PennDot proclaiming their assumption that people would take this route. And if you look at it, it does make much more sense. The light at Gateway has a left turning lane.

I will promise you coppy that I am never blocking you at 5PM. I was there yesterday at 12 and I was waiting to hear you beep. Shocked

How many times are you given looks or gestures when you beep? Question Question

I will stay out of your way!! LOL Rolling Eyes

I don't really beep at people. Only if the light turns yellow and I realize I'm going to miss the green because some numbskull has to block the flow of traffic to turn left. It seems that they have extended the length of green for the Walker Rd folks, since when the light first went up, it was horribly short.

Obviously people are set in their ways and I can only hope that a traffic analysis will show that a left turning lane there will be beneficial to those of us going straight. And since they've torn down the homes directly across from Norland Ave, I don't see why this would be such a big deal.

Just because they tore them down doesn't necessarily mean they can build a road over them. Do they have the rights-of-way?

Even if they do, and the project is on the table for funding (which to my knowledge it isn't) it could still take years for something like that to happen.

This thread is blackly amusing, like a recipe for road rage. In this bowl, we have slack-jawed dunderpates who can't drive, and in this bowl, we have those with utterly no patience for slack-jawed dunderpates. (Or just no patience in general...)

Add 7,000 pounds of metal, glass and plastic, and a dash of self-righteousness. Stir.

Serves two trauma wards...
