What reason made you decide that this was the particular path for you?

Are you a member of a particular faction that denies themselves certain things in order to achieve enlightenment?

Or were you assisted by medication (actually that is too prying of me, don't answer that one. I'm on a medication that destroys virtually all of my drives and numbs a great deal of sensations, so I have to try extra hard)

Have you achieved enlightenment or are you still on the path? Will you share your wisdom once you get it or will you make us work for it?

Very Happy

I'm not sure I really understand the point. Sexual relationships, whether its with yourself or another person, are natural, normal, and healthy. I commend you for your "restraint" and all of the natural energy you can muster, but I don't really see the point either.

It's literally a key function of our biology and physiology. It seems more admirable to abstain for personal and spiritual reasons, rather than moral, "I'll grow hair on my palms and go to hell if I do" reasons, but still doesn't strike me as appealing.

So go grab a box of tissues (or a willing participant)!

I'm gonna have to side with coppy and shel on this one.
I can see how that would bring about those affects though. Myself being as such til, "In the words of the late great Carlin," I reached the age of reason. It's a perfectly normal human drive. And to fight such an urge at all cost, no matter what, is downright unhealthy. Though not as drastic as say, *denying yourself food, there are certain to be drastic side effects.

*To cover myself...denying yourself physical pleasure, can be for some, more drastic than denying yourself sustinance.

I have trouble relating to this as anything other than an EXTRA suitcase to haul around, one that is cumbersome, awkward but relatively easy to open... yet you choose to leave it unopened. ]

I feel like creativity is nearly derived from sexual deviancy, let alone normalcy... you seem to reject both. I'm still having trouble understanding this. Abstinence? This is why Catholic priests are fondling little boys...

I am sorry that you feel someone has ridiculed your life choice or equated it with sexual perversion (asexual perversion?)

You are quite right that each person must follow their own path, it would be rather boring otherwise.

Many spiritual paths suggest or insist upon celibacy in order to progress.

I know that I was trying to understand your motivations---trying to see from your point of view. If it came across as anything other than mild curiosity I deeply apologize and beg for forgiveness.

Please, please, please never be reluctant to say whatever you like and start or continue to have frank and open discussions about whatever you so choose.

For whatever it is worth, I don't believe Coppy was trying to suggest you were any which way. I believe he was just stating, in his own Coppy way, that your path was not the one for him.

We have always been a laid back, informal bunch and, on occasion, some of us can forget that not everyone is so thick-skinned.

No no, coppy knows everything, as president of the soapbox personality
cult, he has to know everything or else his flock wouldnt follow him and he would have to go flock, himself.

I always have wondered why only a few post here and the rest avoid the soapbox. Now I understand.
