So yesterday I am in Indiana and I see a Deli sign and stop and I can finally say that I will miss something from this wretched area.

*Edit*
Glad some of you enjoyed my rant (which may or may not have occurred under the influence of alcohol) but I figured it was probably inflammatory enough that it was time to say goodbye.
It was funny though.

H. had his very first Cuban sandwich at Tito's Tacos yesterday.
He said the sandwich was very good, better than the tacos, which were also pretty good, but he would have felt more comfortable if he understood Spanish.
I get that, unfamiliar atmosphere, sometimes you wonder if people are talking about you...
My only problem was I thought the music was a little too loud yesterday, but man, that was good sandwich...and HUGE with thick slices of avocado and all kinds of other stuff I'm not used to: there was sliced hot dog cooked with scrambled egg in there, sliced pepper and the cheese wasn't really melted---none of that is typical for the Cubans I have had before, but the bread was good and the sandwich, despite some unfamiliar ingredients (I tend to avoid hot dogs and raw onion) that was GOOD sandwich.
I was disappointed that I had agreed to share it...even if I was going to spend the rest of my life with the guy (correction...the rest of *his* life >snicker<)
I'm getting another one ASAP.
Not a N'awlins sandwich, but it hit the spot. I kick myself for not trying it before yesterday! _________________ Nevermind. |

Today I ate at 7p's and I must say that I have found a new place to eat!!!! My wife had a great salad that you pick what you want and they mix it for you and I had a Muffelatta (sp?). Then for dinner we ate at Montzumas. _________________ Read My Blog

Yeah, 7-P's rules; I wish they were open on the weekends. The salad choices are mind-boggling, but I'm partial to the muffaletta myself.
They didn't change their specials very often, but now they seem to mix it up every week or so.
I'm really looking forward to the opening of Cafe d'Italia where the Baker's Loaf used to be. |

Beats me; in fact, I know nothing about it except someone mentioned it on the soapbox last week and I passed it driving through the square over the weekend.
The sign is up and it looks nice... I just hope they hold normal hours, rather than the ridiculous "downtown Chabmersburg" hours. You know, closed after 3 pm, all weekend, Mondays and most Tuesdays. Sometimes closed Wednesday too...
That sort of thing. Funny how the best hours downtown are kept by Lyon's, the clothing store. |
