I bet people with peanut allergies die as soon as they walk into that place.

Being a connoisseur of breakfast...
I've yet to find a really great breakfast locale in franklin county.

For the Chambersburg folks, I've always enjoyed 30W.
If you are all about chain places, CB defeats BE any day. With Denny's way last.
The Market in Lemasters used to have excellent B-fast sammiches, but under the new ownership...eh-soso
FotM has a nice atmosphere and the food is average+
I don't know if I could call any of them best though...just nothing like g-ma makes.

BE = Bob Evans

30 West's breakfast has not impressed me. Just like every other "greek/family" restaurant in Franklin. There is no great breakfast here. You'd have to hit Carlisle for some truly great, local breakfast spots.

I guess u can tell I don't do the breakfast chains. Coppy you are not liking Franklin county at all. You do have to admit that the Greeks are better than the chains. Is the anywhere in Franklin county you would recommend to eat at? Other than your kitchen Laughing

Now, Now, Coppy has listed quite a few places he likes. There's the Pizza Factory and 7P's or whatever that place across from Emily's is called

He said he liked Emily's for breakfast and Norland Pub has the best wings.

Still waiting on the results of the Pizza Championships.

I ate at Cafe del Sol on his recommendation and was quite pleased (but that's Greencastle) and long ago, on Haloscan, he told me about Ginger House, which is still one of my favorites.

Oh and the Montezuma's on 30 next to Ginger House? Way better than the one on Wayne Avenue, even though both have excellent customer service and good food the atmosphere is so much better (and no flys!) but AnonyMouse was the one who suggested that.

And I believe he likes HempenHill, which I've been meaning to try, but that's Ship, right?

You're all soooo far off here...

So I don't like "Franklin County" food. In case you haven't noticed, food isn't something Franklin County Pennsylvania is famous for. If anything, it's notorious. I'll NEVER admit the "Greeks" are better than the chains. Because they're not. NO WAY, NO HOW. I seriously HATE, from the bottom of my soul, garbage breakfast pits like Denny's, Waffle House, Perkin's and Bob Evans... but I do know this... their food is BETTER than EVERY SINGLE "greek" restaurant in Franklin County. Texas Lunch, Johnnie's, 30 West, Oak Forest, Olympia, Chris's Country Kitchen, Stoner's... they're all the same, and they all serve the same, bland, salty garbage of whatever you people call breakfast. If you seriously think this is decent food, you need to get yourselves out of Franklin County for about 5 minutes.

I'm sorry, I hate the chains, but their food is consistently better than the "greek" framily restaurants. And it's about DAMN TIME someome stood up to that crap and made it known (as I have several times before).

Me!!!!!, you make a good point... is there anywhere in Franklin County I would recommend eating at, besides my kitchen. To answer your question..... no. I can make, myself, with a minimal amount of local, fresh ingredients a breakfast that is considerably better that any bland, salty, DISGUSTING greek restaurant in the area, ESPECIALLY 30 WEST, WHOSE BREAKFASTS ARE DOWNRIGHT REPULSIVE.

Emily's has the best brunch in Franklin County. I'm sure you've been there..... NO? Oh, what a surprise.

How dare anyone say they're a breakfast "connoisseur" and rave about a locally-owned filth-pit (like 30 West... please).

Chel, I'm glad you're one of the few taking my recommendations... 7-P's has the best sandwiches in town but their hours are, for lack of a better term, downright mentally retarded. Norland "Pube" has the best wings. Cafe Del Sol is the epitome of quality vs. quantity, but local rednecks could care less about the former.

Rt. 30 Montezuma's is excellent, and the Ginger House is one of the fantastic local establishments I'm afraid is doomed to succumb to the "Ryan's Trough Effect." Go eat your overcooked steak and corn, you disgusting Franklin County animals.

Hempen Hill is fantastic, but they don't need your business. They're in Hagerstown, and they seem to be doing quite well with decent crowds... no Franklin County, PA help needed. If they were Shippensburg, despite their un-contested quality, they'd go under simply because of local ignorance.

Seriously. Just go back to McDonalds. But don't expect me to let you make a right turn onto Walker Road tomorrow morning.

coppay, I asked a question and you give me a blast once again! I have tried Emilys and it was ok just not close to my home. My hubby perfers breakfast and I wouold rather skip it and enjoy my lunch. I don't eat seafood or fish so the other places you have recommended I haven't tried. I hate montuzumas but I have learned that u either hateit or love it.
We try to go out once in awhile but I normally cook at home and you can't beat home cooked meals! And I was at ryans once to see what the hoopla was about and BARF!! It is a trough for hungry pigs! Laughing I would choose Hoss's over alot of places.

I enjoy the chains for something different and I too can't stand the greeks for dinner unless you want the same old thing Hot turkey sand, meatloaf...yada yada yada.

I was just wondering where you perfered to eat breakfast at in FC. Idea

And especially for you I will turn left onto Norland Ave on my weekly grocery or Target visit Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Climb off your high horse for a second...

Its totally possible to rate these restaurants objectively...you dont really have to LIKE them. And they arent ALL the same. I prefer Johnnies Breakfast to any of them - but thats just me. Now - does that mean I think Johnnies is a fabulous restaurant...not really. I may have a certain cynicism about their product. But within its own realm - it rates highly. And it's not just the food, I prefer the character of employees at Johnnies - lot of long timers there. Don't really know any of them - but they are always very nice.

And I'm not sure how you are placing your order - but I've never gotten my breakfast plate PRE-SALTED. They usually leave that to the customer. Anyone else ever order a potato/eggs breakfast and have it come with salt? So - I think you are being a bit disingenuous there. Well - maybe mcdoanlds might...

One thing is for certain, based on your posts here, you are either unable/unwilling to prepare food at home, or just have a taste for homoginization. As far as I'm concerned - ALL restaurants (particularly the chains) "serve the same, bland, salty garbage" - compared to a home cooked meal. You should try it.

This post is down right disgusting. We take great pride in our restaurant and the service that we provide. As always some might not like our establishment for whatever every reason they chose. That is fine! Next year will make 20 years that we have been successfully in business at 30 West so we must be doing something right.

IMO Coppy's post isn't disgusting.

It is his opinion.

And when he wants to be, Coppy can be very specific about his likes and dislikes.

Now, I haven't been to 30West. I've been to Chris's and the food for the $ was okay, but it wasn't anything special. Today, I want to go out for breakfast and I'm not thinking local. I'm thinking IHOP. >shrugs<

For breakfast, I'm not too fussy, I like things like waffles, crepes, blintzes (omgee, blintzes and crepes!!) bacon, sausage---I love sausage gravy and biscuits, but I haven't found any around that was 'right' (don't feel bad, I never seem to make it 'right', either.)

So, mostly, I stick to waffles.
Big, thick waffles. Sometimes with whipped cream and fruit!
And good meat. Not dried out ham steaks and sausage and overcooked bacon.

I have been to local places that are, umm, design challenged, but that doesn't really effect the food. Some are poorly lit. Poor decor and bad lighting can make a place feel dirty when it really isn't.
Of course, some places are actually nasty, but those aren't common...from what I've seen.

I guess one of my problem with some of the local eateries is that their boring and bland.

I don't mean boring in a comfort food kinda way, either.
Just plain boring.

As far as comfort food goes, I've felt more 'comfort' from food at the Cracker Barrel and I feel like I know their standards when I walk in.

But that is just my opinion.

True, I'm not a local, but I don't have a problem supporting local places, I prefer it, actually. Just offer me something that makes me willing to part with my dough.

i don't think the post disgusting (it doesn't offend me because I agree with his tastes), but it is arrogant.

secondly you can't be mad at businesses not operating the way you want them too. obviously they're making money, and you may or may not be correct that they could make more money with your suggestions. You mentioned 7Ps, I had to ask my better half what that was. I've never heard of it because I'm always working when they're open. but that's fine, if that's their business model, that's their choice. If you're so positive you could make more money, open your own restaurant.
