Can Vicky/someone please explain the point of this "story"?
The headline sounds more editorial in nature - not a news story. These crimes have already been reported.
So what is your point? Your piece makes no attempt to explain or account for the differences? You just throw this headline thesis out there and don't support it.
This story should have been in the "Our View" section - not the news.
Arent you the same person who wrote an endless string of stories about some poor girls struggle with herion a few years ago? - Every time she got in trouble or relapsed it was a new front page $tory for you.
You were clearly enriching yourself at her expense - Souless and disgusting I say. _________________ Do everything that's in you, you feel to be your part... |

Souless, disgusting and....incorrect. Vicky did not write such a series.
As for the story you reference, I disagree that it was editorializing -- it stated a fact: The sentences differed. I haven't discussed it with Vicky, but my guess is that the lead was merely an attempt to alert the reader that the story covers multiple incidents or topics. This is typically referred to as a "round-up" or "umbrella" lead.
Sometimes they don't work well -- this one wasn't the greatest, but it was not written with any secret agenda or evil intent.

Are you quite sure about that? I think this was for the now-defunct "Gazzettenews.com" I forget the poor girls name.

Facts - that's exactly what the story lacked - any FACTS to support the claim of "very different sentences."
It would be one thing - if you had three men, with identical records, committing the exact same crime - then the "very different sentences" would actually make some sense.
Ya' know - Im sure EVERY sentence from this judge is DIFFERENT. Right?
As it is now - Vicky makes a claim - and then walks away and leaves the reader hanging. Poor form at the very least.
WHAT ACCOUNTED FOR THE DIFFERENCES IN THEIR SENTENCES???
As far as the "round-up" excuse - all this had been published before. You have regular sections for this stuff.
This was a cheap shot at the judge...or something... _________________ Do everything that's in you, you feel to be your part... |

i must be reading this article differently...i'm just reading it as a sort of play by play of what happened during the sentencing...just sort of like: a got this sentence, b got this sentence and c got this sentence.
hum.... |
