The talent trees provide what little degree of specialization a given class can achieve. There are three per class, and each take the character in a specific play style direction.

I think you said you're a 'lock, right? So, your particular choices are AFFLICTION (make things sick unto death) DESTRUCTION (blow things up real good like) and DAEMONOLOGY (buff your minions)...

Talents can be reset at any time by any class trainer. It costs gold, and gets progressively more expensive the more you do it, so don't play around with them too much...

worldofwarcraft.com has a talent tree calculator...so you can 'mess' around w/it there. if you booboo, it's 1g to unlearn, then 5, 10, etc....so like torgo said...you don't wanna mess around too much.

however...when you're 70 you can...i switch all the time, but i have the money saved, so it's ok...

re: locks....aff is best for lvling until 49/50...then i'd switch to demo (which is when you can get felguard at 41 talent points...which is handy for lvling)...but again, it's up to you Smile

I'm hesitating about battlegrounds, I pass by the portal into Warsong Gulch a lot, but I don't travel with any groups and I'm still getting my butt kicked by instances...like that one in Shadow Cleft in Orgrimmar?
I mean WtH?! The stupid snakes are lvl 14+ why the plus? Why can't they make them 14? It really hurts my feelings to have to run from a 'snake' that is supposedly quite a few levels below me!!

I want to play in the arenas too, but I had doubts before Cookie said anything about Blizzard hating on casters...

I guess I better get working on that BE pally.

ah, elites. yeah. they'll whoop ya. even if you're their lvl. the theory is that while they say lvl 14, the elite really makes them in theory a few lvls higher...so it's more of a challenge.

bgs. lemme make an alt on your server and lvl her fast and i'll run thru them w/you to show you the ropes. they are fun, but they can be nightmareish...twinks and all and dying a lot etc. i bg all the time (it's what we do) so i 'm used to the dying/twinks/etc....i like the challenge.

instances. i usually don't run them w/out guildies....just a rule of mine cuz i've been in some bad pugs. (see: crispy gamer's wow comic on 'dc-ing' to get out of bad pugs)...

as for bgs, try it out! see if you like it or not. the points you save and tokens you get will get you sweet gear (boots from ab in 30s/40s that will increase your run speed, sweet belt....um...wsg has bracers etc. that are way better than a lot of the gear at those lvls)

sorry i've been away from posting....end of term wrap ups. i'm getting back on track Very Happy

ok so this isn't technically just a wowspeak i think, but i can't remember where the guild to im/net speak is....and i'm too tired to fiind it

i heard a "new" one tonight and wanted to report it to keep us all up to date....

here it is:

"i noe riet"

so, i gathered from interpreting the conversation, what was really meant to be say was:

"i know, right?"

heads up!

eW

I don't like that one.

Thank you for the update though.

I plan to restart my warcrack addiction soon...you'll know when by the loud shrieking as some lvl 70 decides it will be cute to gank my lvl 20 lock repeatedly.
The shrieking will most likely be followed by the ceremonial breaking of stuff through out my house as scream obscenities about 'Ally bastards'

ahhhh yes. obscenities abound in wow....it's why i had to buy a new mouse (g*d d*mmit smack smack smack smack smack...oops!)

warlocks at 70 are sick. that's why we're targeted even as lowbies. everyone's like, ugh---kill that lock (much as the infamous kill the healer rabble call)....imo, there's a reason why they're always nerfed ( a weeeee bit OPd)

haha!

oh, not sure i've used that one before OP = overopowered

and that they are. lvl'd to 70 w/a huntard and it was just sick.

I've come a LONG way since refusing teh WarCrack...

you're a cruel, cruel siren, Cookie. Razz

But there is still a bunch I don't understand (besides the joy that Allis get out of ganking me when I'm 20 lvls below them--- but enough about them and why I can't hardly finish a quest in Tarren Mill...)

What the heck are they saying in trade chat when they talk about premades and eots?? Shocked

And what's this about a patch to stop BG twinking...except 60s will still be twinks?

(Please use non-WarCrackese)

And... I wanna be a twink, how do I become a twink? Twisted Evil

ah, yes, TM......land of fightin'......yeah, gankers do that. i try to not UNLESS i get ganked over and over then i go on one of my warpaths. my guild loves when i go on these cuz i pull out all the stops. usually i will just do anything that moves that's ally. no matter the lvl. pew pew pew. dead. my friend amy was on tonight and kept getting camped by 2 lvl 70 rogues IN OUR BASE in arathi

so i said: let's go to refuge point (ally base) and camp them all there. omg, was that fun. it was me (on priest), her (mage 70) and Z (mage 70)....we ripped thru that base like there was no tomorrow...and the poor ally 70s thought they could take us HAHAHAHAHHAAHA SUCKERS! no. they didn't. so us 3 70s against 8 70s lololol.

i have mad healzorz.

premades = battle ground preformed groups.....so as to avoid a Pug BG group (PUG = pick up group)......my guild and i run together as a sort of premade....but we do NOT premade w/anyone outside the guild cuz we are pvp snobs. haha. serious. we only trust each other, we work amazingly well together and if it's even just 3 of us premade we will win. cuz we all know how each other work.

EotS.....eye of the storm battleground. you can enter at 60. it was EotS weekend for BG honor (bg weekends = if you enter EotS on EotS weekend, you'll get extra honor....AV, which of the bgs gives the most honor, weekend is usually swamped cuz everyone wants that sick mad lovely crazy more honor.

premades FTW!

pugs FTL

side note...i realllllly needed BF (blood furnace....an instance in hellfire pennisula...lvl 60-62) for gear (druid is 67)...so i entered "looking for more" and found one that needed a tank. bearing in mind, i am a healer and hate any sort of close combat (hence the lock to cast from distance)...i neeeeeeded it so i said, sure i'll tank, but i told them i'd never done it before. they were like: we don't care. i was like, sweet!

no wipes! quests done! gear got! very interesting to see it from that point of view.

but i'll stick to healzorz.

i have heard that is a rumor.

twinking.....from what i understand of it's history....in bgs horde tend to kick ***...so the ally tend to get clever ways to beat us (hacking for one, twinking for two)...twinking means spending TONS of gold (and i mean like 2k gold) on enchants, gear etc. to up health, stats etc.

semi-twink.....good gear, no enchants.

that's what we are as a guild.....we have nice gear but nothing else. OUR mission is to kill twinks and show them they wasted their gold... MWUHAHAHAHAHAHA. the only guy i twinked slightly was my 29 huntard wh en he was in 20s cuz the twinkage sucks at that lvl. he was bad@ss.

too much of WoW's economy runs on twinking.

well, here's a direct quote from my guild leader on our forums when i mentioned this....he can explain it way better than i can:

Me in forum:

so, isis told me tonight that blizz was thinking of implementing "anti-twinking" in bgs that would change bgs to give XP ... thus, more or less forcing lvling.....is this true? has anyone else heard anything on this? i spent some time googling in hopes of finding something but i haven't.....figured y'all'd have your sources of reference that are way better than my googletard nature.....

my guild leader's response:

I haven't read anything about such implementation in the patch and I don't expect blizzard to do anything that discourages twinking.

Why?

Because Blizzard has actually posted (several times in the past) comments that "twinking is a part of the game." I've read several Blizzard posts that all but endorse it. Which makes sense as a noteable portion of the WoW player base plays almost exclusively because of twinking. And Blizz knows this. If Blizz didn't support twinking, they why to high lvl enchants have such LOW lvl requirements (e.g. mongoose has a lvl 35 requirement).

In fact, Blizz used to provide xp from (unlimited) BG turn ins. But that allowed people (like me) to level characters almost entirely from PvP. Blizz realized this and removed it because they do not want players leveling outside of the WoW content. It is for that reason that we can't use flying mounts in Northrend until 77 or so.

So, while possible, I doubt Blizz has any plans to discourage twinking ... especially now that there are other games (AoC and WAR) completing for its players. If they did, it would be as EASY as increasing the level caps for enchants.

chel.....if you have any links on this ... post them for me, cuz i can't find them....i'd like to read them.

this would HIGHLY anger me.....because we as a guild are "battlegrounders".... that is, we have alts at every lvl for bgs...and like my g.l. said, twinking is part of it, so as we say: gold twinkage < teamwork

IF blizz DOES force lvl us in bgs to stop twinking....i daresay i may quit the game, because i hate raiding and end game things are not that interersting (besides bgs)

so IF blizz does that they will lose TONS of customers, which i *think* they'd be aware of (god, i hope)

late! night all!

gah i missed that post

epic......a high lvl of gear....."purple" when hovered/moused over.....really nice stats, better than blue

so gear comes like this....from sh*tty to sweet:

gray, white, green, blue, purple, orange

orange is SUPER rare (called legendary)

since i am a PvPr, i get all my lvl 70 gear at the Hall of Legends in org....and all that gear is purple that i buy. just means, sweet @ss stats Smile

gray bad
white is non binding so you can send it to different alts (some dresses for holidays are white, bags/containers can be white so you can reuse ifi you upgrade yours)
green binds
blue binds
purple binds

by binds i mean:

you have 2 options for gear "binding"

Bind on Equip (BoE)...this is gear that can be auctioned, traded, etc...BUT...once you equip it, it's soulbound and no one else can use

Bind on Pickup (BoP)...this is usually in instances w/boss drops.....this binds to the user on literally pickup....hence the rolls for need and greed....need roll will always beat out a greed roll. greed roll if you don't need but could sell...need if you need

NEVER. EVER. NEVER. EVER roll need if you do not need.

these are called:

NINJAS

and you will p*ss EVERYONE off and you will prob be booted or never asked along again.

NO ONE likes a ninja looter.

EVER.

let that be tonight's lesson.

lol.

Heh.

I actually figured that one out on my own. About ninja looters and such. I usually just pass or greed on everything. At this point, I'm more about getting exp, building my rep with quests, beefing my professions skills and meeting knowledgeable and cool people. (Not that I haven't had the A/S/L goobers bug me a bit, but all I have to do is say, "Dude, I'll be 32 on Thursday." and they virtually run the other way screaming. Laughing )

I feel bad now, because the only BG exp I have is in PuG. I just join the BG and go from there.
I realize I'm not using my characters to the fullest of their potential, I don't have a strategy, I just buff everyone I can at the beginning, heal ppl when I see they need it and they're close by and swing on anything red that I can reach...

I guess I'm one of 'those' people, huh? The total messes. Twisted Evil

I see it as a learning process. I doubt I'll ever be as skilled as some, but I'll continue to try.

I'm a member of a friendly guild, but only one does BG on a regular basis and no one is higher than 60, I think most of us are 30s and 40s with a few 50s and lots of low 20s. H is a member also and he was doing BG, but someone told him his armor was pathetic and he shouldn't bother with BG until he got something halfway decent. He said it didn't bother him because he was wearing dropped armor and nothing he had bought, but he hasn't gone back in since.
