Just wondering if anyone knows whats going on w/ the old Exxon Station? It used to be a nice business, now it looks almost as bad as the two boro owned properties (Irwin and Leach House). The Exxon bldg. has gaping holes in the walls, trenches around the building, and a couple of hundred tires piled up out back. Any one thinks this is a hazard?

Not sure thats in the Historic Disctrict proper - and it looks like there is some sort of renovation going on there.

I've heard BJ Liberty will be moving out by Janes...?

True that it's not in the "district" I know she usually pitches a royal fit. I heard a rumor about an incident at the post office where US Marshals made her leave. All over the replacement of the windows!

I think the Breons own the Exxon station now. I wouldn't expect any improvements down the road. Look at the other properties they own Smile

The exxon station is currently owned by a man from Pakistan. The mess is all due to him , not the Breons. I agree the place is really a mess that should be and needs to be cleaned up!!!!!!!!!!

I had heard they were going to put a pizza shop in (yeah like we need another one Rolling Eyes ) but since it had been a service station previously now it's a no go.

Speaking of how bad the Exxon station looks, has anyone noticed how bad the business at 80 Landis Drive looks (across the street from the Moose)? The grass hasn't been mowed for months, the dumpster is overflowing and hasn't been dumped for weeks and the property looks abandonded. They have people working there, but you'd think they'd take a little pride in both their business and the community, but apparently not. Why aren't they made to clean up their act?

Well, at least they mowed the property today. They still haven't gotten their dumpster emptied, and as a matter of fact, now they have a dump truck full of junk also sitting there beside the dumpster. Apparently they haven't been paying their bills!

I happen to know that the business located there is Eagle Mountain Cabinetry, and they're owned by the same group that owns Just Wood Industries on Oregon Street, and Greencastle Kitchens. They apparently build low end laminate cabinets.

Is overflowing garbage in St. Thomas really anything new?

This company is'nt in Saint Thomas Coppy, it's in Mercersburg (same difference I guess).

Last summer they had a dumpster fire because they had been throwing piles of highly flamable staining rags into it. The rags spontaneously combusted, and MMPW had to put the fire out. They haven't learned anything as they still throw their rags into the dumpster. One of these days, the whole building will go up in smoke, probably a good thing. You'd think that have gotten a fine or a warning or something.

I know someone who works there, and they've told me that they also take their unused thinners and stains (both highly flamable) and fill the cans with sawdust, and throw the cans into their dumpster. So someday if you see a giant mushroom cloud erupting over Mercersburg, you'll know why!
