My mom used to make something like that with potatoes instead of dough.
Thinking about my mom's cooking almost makes me want to move back to Pa. |

thinking about my mom's cooking makes me want to stay 700 miles away.
Dad did most of the cooking and if we wanted something other than hamburger helper, burgers or chicken casserole, it was found elsewhere.
Wasn't all bad, tho'
She makes a broccoli casserole that I love and have only found one better and she used to make the bestest birthday cakes in the whole world, but she stopped making them Every year since I was in my teens she's asked, "What do you want for your birthday?" and I say, "For you to make me a birthday cake." And she say nope. I dunno why she stopped.
She would decorate them beautifully too. And she made naught 3D ones that were always a hit. _________________ Nevermind. |

I haven't seen this one (although I haven't read all jillion posts)
The plural of "you". 45chel says ya'll...obviously not from here.
The correct Franklin County plural of you comes in a number of variants among which are:
you-ins
yhns (sorta like the letter "y" immediately followed by a "n-s" dipthong)
yoons (rhymes with moons but more vowel swallowing involved)
joons (see above)
jhns (see above)
chns (like the word "chins", just don't pronounce the "i")
And please, no homesick Pittsburghers claiming it's a western PA thing...this area was settled long before Pittsburgh was. Take a trip out to the Rocky Spring cemetary. We had a couple generations already in the ground before any appreciable quantity of people made it over the mountain.
There is a dialect atlas (heard about it on NPR) that shows that this area of PA has very similar linguistic etiology to Pgh... |

Refrigerator is funny in itself. If you 'RE'frigerate something, that means it was 'frigerated' in the first place. LOL _________________ Destiny comes to those who LISTEN and fate finds the rest. (Marshall's Motto) |

One of the local accents is when people will say "fuhoon" for "phone", or "ruhood" for road...I thought is was a local thing till I was listening to the morning show on 98 Rock Baltimore and they were making fun of talking that way regarding local Bmore folks (especially Dundalk area )..so I guess it's an area thing.
Other thing is "Red up", meaning to clean up...the locals are cute in their own backward way...'cept it's not charming like nice southern talkin' |

also, i don't know how I avoided learning the PAisms growing up, but my plural for "you" is "all of you".
I hate the locals with their twags and their fat faces and their b.o. and their mustaches... _________________ "Nothing is more precious to me than the smile of a child"- Joseph Stalin |
