I really don't want some kids running around Iraq to give people a target just so they don't target me. I'll stand up for myself.

Most of the people doing the shooting there are not Al Qaida.

Apparantly, all it takes for most of those to switch sides is to offer them more money than the other side. Some Jihad. We now arm those we just disarmed. If all it takes is money, let the Iraqis use their 1.4 million barrels a DAY oil production pay for these "volunteers" & use the balance to hire Blackwater. Quit using mine.

We are no safer since 9-11 than before it. If we paid attention, we should have caught some of the hijackers in Maine and, if we would have listened to the FBI chick in MN, we would have checked out those pilot schools and if someone had listened to Tenants warning in August, they might have heightened the awareness and 9-11 could have been prevented..

While Clinton was in office, he put together a committee of both Republicans & Democrats to asseess the risk of terror attacks in the U.S. Gary Hart & some Republican guy headed the committee. They were to report to the new President. They did their report warning of an attack, went to the White House to see Bush, and he refused to see them. Doesn't that just get you a tad angered.

Go to Mount Garbage in Upton. They have a radiation detector so radioactive trash can't get dumped. A trash pile can have one & our ports can't?

Buiuld a 16 foot wall on the border & walmart will sell a 18' ladder.

When are we going to use some sense?

Richard Clarke was Clinton's terrorism "czar" and a Republican who had previously worked for H.W. Bush and Reagan. He was perhaps the most in tune with Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden and the terrorism threat this country faced prior to 9/11.

When W. Bush took office, Clarke was effectively demoted; he technically kept his position but longer had cabinet level access nor was he one of Bush's advisers.

He has since been extremely critical of the Bush administration's attitude toward counter-terrorism leading up to 9/11 as well as the decision to go to war in Iraq. In other words, a smart guy.

He's been sharply criticized, in turn, by conservatives ever since. All this despite being a conservative himself as one of President Clinton's most trusted advisers. Now can you imagine a liberal or any Democratic ever working for President Bush in any capacity?

It's a good thing we have an oilman in the White House. Otherwise the price of oil would be completely out of control.

I also read an interesting statistic about how home prices skyrocketed during the Bush administration, by over 7%. In the last 20 years, the largest increase during a president's administration was 1.7% under Carter and under Bush 41, they actually declined by over 1%.

But if history has taught us anything, it's that over the next few years, home prices will drop dramatically. Unfortunately, people aren't willing to sell their homes now for significantly less than they purchased them for which has led to both the housing slump and predatory lending.

I currently rent, mainly because I couldn't justify purchasing a home in Franklin County for as much or more than houses are going for in areas where incomes are significantly higher. Now I feel like buying a home is an awful idea because its value is certain to fall over the next several years.

But, as for oil, at least ExxonMobile is doing well Rolling Eyes

I just got oil on Tuesday and the price was $2.99 a gallon. I was expecting it to be more, although that is bad enough. From what I hear, it is pretty expensive to heat your home in other ways (electric, natural gas, even pellets for pellet stoves seem a bit expensive). I also use kerosene heaters and electric heaters as a supplement to my oil heat, so thankfully, I haven't had to purchase as much oil this season for heating or I would be freezing my bazoombas off. Although, my electric bill is probably double what it normally is this time of year. It's bad enuf that I keep my thermostat set at 65 and wear extra clothing inside my own home. Ain't nobody running around naked in my living room.

We cut our oil consuption by 75% the past two year. I no longer burn anything to heat & cool my home. And I dids not go electric.

It is a tad expensive & would have been more economical if I was building a new house but I took out my functional oil furnace. This is our second year of no oil trucks in or driveway.

We never had A/C so I am not really experiencing any AC savings but figure on the oil money savings. I am thinking a 7 - 8 year payback.

If the governemt wasn't owned by big oil, they would provide good incentives for the switch. If every home oil furnace was replaced, we could save 15-20 bbls per household. Now, lets talk about no burning = no CO2 emmissions.

Ohhhhhh, I see. Thanks for the clarification. And, no I don't care to be included in the part of the WE they are talking about. The TV media is not a good place to be your only source for news.

Yeah, Coppy, I know you were being sarcastic. My comment was for those who get there news only from the 24 hour news programs, when there are plenty of other places to get the news from. You know, so you can be fair and balanced Wink
