what do you think?
I vote Beastie Boys, Mellencamp, The Ventures, Donna Summers, The Dave Clark Five

Same here, except substitute Leonard Cohen for Donna Summer.

On another note, anyone else think the nominations are starting to get pretty far afield? Don't great me wrong, the Beastie Boys are great and I love them, but I'm sure I could find another act that's more deserving if I wasn't too lazy to look it up.

yes I understand about the beasties but who else would give them any due?
I like them cause they play their instruments during live shows and on their albums.
Deep Purple or maybe even Rush should be on there. Madonna shouldn't be on the list at all.

No matter what you think of Madonna, you must admit she has not only survived, but flourished. Her new stuff irritates me but she makes it pay. She's a chameleon and in the entertainment industry that's necessary. Yeah, it's great to have fans like deadheads or phishheads or whatever Widespread Panic's fans are calling themselves, but what happens when they grow up or need jobs or overdose? One of Madonna's talents is convincing others that she has talent...whether you believe it or not, it's still quite an ability.

I vote Beastie Boys, John Mellencamp, Madonna and have no opinion on the others, please accept my apologies.

First of all the name should be changed from Rock & Roll Hall of fame to "Music Hall of Fame." While many important performers have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, such as Elvis Presley, B. B. King, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Who, I can't help but wonder why the great band Rush has been left out.
Now don't get me wrong, the majority of Hall of Fame inductees certainly deserve to be there. But on the other hand some of them stand out as short-term groups that simply did not have a lasting contribution on rock and roll, nor exert much influence on later musicians.

In light of their history and accomplishments, Rush definitely deserve to be in the Hall, even more so than some of the groups that have been inducted over the years. Their credentials certainly speak for themselves.

I couldn't agree more with Rush being added to the Hall of Fame. They are an incredible group and have stood the test of time. A three man band that jams like they do are certainly deserving.
