.45chel,

THANKS!!!!

You don't know how much I needed that. If I could roll on the floor to laugh my big behind off, I'd be doing do a hundred times over!

The first one had me. I used to be like that every other week or so. Alas, Haloscan comments (and health) took its toll. I am so sorry to let my little area down. However, I don't have to put up with all those nasty comments when I'm trying to have the sun shine on certain "other things". Know what I mean? The only e-mails I've had so far wondering where I was were from out-of-staters.

All of the snowpeople CRACKED ME UP! I had forgotten how creative Bill Watterson was. I wish he would bring back Calvin and Hobbes. There is a whole new generation that needs them in their purity in their lives!

Shocked Being wounded in the War on Literacy is much more important than being wounded in the War on Xmas. You should apply for benefits. I'll submit your name for award.

Poor Coppy.

Who attacks a library?! Shocked Unless it's leaking $$ like a sieve...and that's people focusing on too much other stuff besides books. Confused

Books, magazines, newspapers, books on tape (errr, disc) and a few computers with internet access maybe. As long as you buy new books and keep reference material updated I don't see how a library could go wrong!

I admit. I've only been in the big stone library in downtown Chambersburg once. But not everyone can buy every book they want (come to think of it, I can't really do that either Crying or Very sad ) I love, love LOVE Wilson College's library. Can't check anything out, but I can sit and explore. (I have a thing for multiple story libraries with old, dusty books!)
Every community needs at least one library...

See now I'm starting to rant...

Queen,

I know it can be hard to shake off some of the posts on Haloscan. Sometimes it can be better to walk away for awhile, but never let it prevent you from coming back.
People are especially cruel when they can be anonymous and Haloscan is an ugly place. Even when someone uses a name to post they can be rude, (like .45chel, for instance--that is one mouthy hussy!) it's alot easier to be rude when you don't have to look someone in the eye...to see the hurt on their face. There are some who think we should get rid of Haloscan altogether. I disagree.
I believe that the ability to know what other people truly think is worth the irritation that can come from hate-filled posts. How else would you know what opposition a seemingly good proposal might face? Or that there are other people out there that feel the same a you? (Take Clint Barkdoll-- he didn't win, but I found out about him through Haloscan posts and ended up voting for him. I doubt I'm the only one.)

I could ramble on, continuing my incoherent typing, but it really comes down to this: Don't let them chase you away.
Don't let someone else's hate, poison your spirit.

I value your viewpoint, just as I do several other people who post here and at Haloscan. Now, ya'll aren't always going to be able to change my way of thinking, but we are proving that people with different ideas, from different walks of life can express thoughts and share ideas without being at each other's throats.
Why let a few idjits keep you from that?

How in the heck are you all getting the pictures on there? I have some pics that are certainly topic appropriate, and I can't figue out how to get them from my desktop to this little space!

We can hotlink images from the web directly to the forum, but using a picture saved to your PC is a bit trickier.

All you need to do is mosey on over to imageshack.us. There you can upload a picture on your computer and they will host it with an image URL.

You can then use this URL to post the picture here using the 'Img' tags.

The P.O. did it again....the comics on the "op-ed" page. Am I the only one this happens to? Am I the only one that finds humor in this in a sick ironic sort of way? Do I need to go back to therapy?

amens there!

i started going there in junior high to look up my art stuffs and became an addict....you *may* be able to get a library card 'cuz i used to have one ... maybe they've changed that now...hum... but i'll agree, it's a fabulous library. lots of gems there!

why-oh-why don't we have a bookstore in this area like borders/b&n? :*( i know you can amazon it (i'm on the sentinel forums a lot and there was a giant thread about this on theirs as well) but it isn't the same.
