"No, it's not; that voting area should be free of influence from anyone or anything. This is no more a violation of your free speech than requiring shoes and shirts to be worn in public buildings."

Wearing an article of clothing is not a form of influence and just like anything means of expression should not be restricted.

I guess it's like the argument of one student being sent home because he wore a t-shirt with a large pot leaf on it while another was allowed to repeatedly wear one with a picture of Jesus nailed to the cross !!!

Armed Cit post today at 9:03 Am is right on the money and probably the most responsible post so far.

I will add that I too carry all the time, within the law and simply for two reasons. It's my right and the "need" may arise at any time.

If we knew the exact date, time and location the "needs" were going to take place, it might be a different issue.

Like I've said, anyone who feels the need to carry a gun everywhere they go needs to get professional help.

After hearing from all the "carriers" in the area, I'm more afraid of getting shot by these "protectors" than I am a criminal. If I get held up at gunpoint & one of these vigilaties starts shooting........

So one of these carriers geta gun pointed at them by a thug, do they try the quick draw? Do they practice a quick draw? Or does the thug just get a new gun to rob someone else with.

Dave,
I believe that you are painting an unfair picture of "carriers". Just because someone carries a gun that automatically makes them a "thug" or "vigilante". The people who carry guns are people who will go to any length to protect the lives of themselves or their families, NOT YOU. Along with that we are not roaming the streets hoping to come across illegal activity so that we can draw our weapon and shoot at someone. We wake up every day and put our weapons on hoping that we will never have to use them, not that day, not ever. The day someone wakes up and looks forward to using their gun is an idiot and need to stop carrying. With that being said I fully understand that you are on the other side of the fence as me. I am not trying to change your mind or opinion on the subject, I would just hope that you realize that "carriers" are not bad nor reckless people with an itchy trigger finger.

When you wear an article of clothing with a candidates name on it, it is a form of influence~if not, why would you wear it? And you cannot wear it in the polling place.
It doesn't matter what candidate or position your shirt depicts, it is not allowed within the pollling place.

And it's wrong. I am not a poll worker, do not work for a candidate and I am sim[ply expressing my opinion by wearing a shirt, button etc.

This is government supression of free speech/ expression, plain & simple.

Next they'll be telling us we can't wear any Christian based religion items as they may offend, influence or intimidate a Muslem!!

Give me a break; polling places are designed to be a zone free of influence. Is it really so much to ask? This is not an uncommon thing in any democracy. No one's telling you what to wear, but the polling are needs to be a neutral zone. I think any political candidate would agree with this policy.

Geez, way to blow something out of proportion.

Now all we need is Larry the Cable Guy to come in to tell joke about farts and gays (or maybe both at the same time).

I bet most of the people here think people who practice Islam aren't Muslims.
