I don't think I have ever eaten there, although it seems to be a lot like "The Treat" in Shippensburg. Someone once told me they have good cheesesteaks but I never bothered trying to find out. Man, I wish you could get a good cheesesteak around here. Mechanicsburg had three, great, authentic Philly Cheesesteak places, and now I can't even find a bagel. Mad

you can get a gteat cheesesteak at Mims in Fayetteville. Queen ssays hello and no she didn't have surgery yet. It has to be posponed. Her health took a turn for the worse. iI keep her up on what is going on.

Oh no! I hope that she'll be ok... wish her all the best from all of us!

I'll stick Mim's Mighty Meaty on my list; I've always wanted to try them. Are they opened weekends?

mim's is pretty good---they used to have one in town by the high school that we went to once in a while.

looking for good hoagies?

you MUST try Hamilton Heights Market if you haven't already. growing up i lived only a few houses away from it and it was an absolute staple in my diet. still is, actually! i compare all hoagies to theirs...lol...grab some chips, soda and ice cream to go with it and it's a little sliver of heaven in my book....

Cooieclaygirl, thanks! I came back earlier than planned...no surgery due to unexpected (aren't they all) minor/moderate heart attack. Now I get to veg a while until I can get cleared for the aboved mentioned direly (I say that) needed surgery. (It really can wait about a month more or so...)

BTW, when you get your shop opened, I REALLY want to come and see it. I love, love, love to do pottery. I would love to learn to throw clay, if you are going to do that. I am a painter. I mostly do oils and water color, although I have dabbled in acrylics. Sold quite a few oils while living in Utah.

Hamilton Heights market is on Cheesetown/Edenville Rd. If you are not familiar, you travel Franklin St to the Y at the top of the hill, bear to the left , being very careful as you cross traffic because you can't see what is coming in the opposite direction, then travel approx. a half a mile or so and the market is on the left. They do have good hoagies, the chipped ham and the roast beef are both good.

Next question... hours?

I'm going to guess... closed all weekend, or maybe all but Saturday morning. Open Tuesday through Friday from about 10 am to 2 or 3 pm?

Yeah, pretty much every one of these "market" type places operate as inconveniently as possible.

That's basically what I was afraid of. I mean, I'm sure that there are some places that cater well to local tastes or are fond childhood memories. But for being in Pennsylvania just stone's throw from Philadelphia, I can't believe how impossible it is to get a good cheese steak or hoagie on good, quality bread.

AJ's Deli that recently opened was good, but it's the same old same old and their bread was nothing to get excited about.

I guess I'll have to do a sandwich tournament once I'm done with pizza.
