Is there a point to this column besides filling a space on the page? It gets worse every week.

I think it is like Peggy Hill's "musings."

Your screen name kicks arse!

Columns, which are a matter of personal expression, will always resonate with some people and not others. I give a lot of credit to anyone who will write a column with their byline in the PO, because so many around here are waiting to criticize it.

How true. But, I don't understand why anyone would want to read Andrea Rich blabber about her kids and husband.

I usually completely ignore that column as a result of never being able to stomach it.

I looked at it again this weekend thanks to your post.......you are now off my xmas card list!

I couldn't keep focus, wanted to know what the point was, and when I skimmed ahead for a reason to keep reading I saw things about goats giving birth.

I promptly put the paper down and went to the wall and found the studs. I then placed my head against the stud in a forcefull manner five time.

I felt so much better.

i think that some columns seem to draw a lot of feedback...negative or positive...with the sentinel forums (i'm on that one a lot too), we have a lot of *ick* postings about crappy columns. and editorials. will have to check this one out tho...i never paid any mind to it.

I personally enjoy the column. But to each his own. If I don't like a column, I don't read it. But I don't feel compelled to bash the columnist.

Having some lady write boring stories about her life has to hit a note with some people. Mavis seems to enjoy it, and that's all fine and good, but I still have to wonder if the newspaper could find a more beneficial use of that space.

Remember, PO readers (and Chambersburg residents in general) are mostly elderly. The "musings" section will probably be a bigger hit than say a section on technology, business or culture.

Hey, I'm here! But, I don't know for how long.

OK...oh someone's gonna be mad at me for this one!

Ms. Rich is the "City Editor" so I guess that she can automatically have her own column. (I have to admit, sometimes it is funny.)

But...as the "City Editor" she is supposed to be mindfull of what is going on in the boros. I've called her several times with news leads (actually happening) in Shippensburg. NOT ONCE, WAS ONE WRITTEN ABOUT. One such story was so important that the EPA and Hazmat Officials had to be called in. P.O. didn't care enough about it, so I gave the scoop to the Sentinel. (I believe he won an award fro the story.)

So, while Ms. Rich has her day job as the City Editor, there must not be much of that to do. She spends her time writing her "Much Ado About Wrapping".
