Now that the Chambersburg football team has finally gotten a win, although it was admittedly against a weak Big Spring team, what do you think the Trojans' chances are against CD East this Friday? CD East did beat Cumberland Valley 2 weeks ago, but was trounced 35-0 by State College this weekend. Will the Trojans have big leap in confidence?

It's nice that you're trying to start "conversation" on your new board, but suggesting that Chambersburg has a chance against CD East because CD East was trounced by State College is ludicrous.

Could someone please clarify something for me?

How did the Chambersburg Trojans come to play in the division they are in now? I've never followed local football but always assumed that they were to play other local teams (ie: Shippensburg, Greencastle, etc). I thought I remembered reading in the PO awhile back where the school boosted them into a higher league!?

So how is it deciphered which teams they play? Is it by student enrollment, selective, etc? Sorry for sounding knuckleheaded on the subject, I've just been curious since they have been pretty much getting stomped the last two years.

I am pretty sure that schools are placed in divisions by their enrollment. The theory being that schools with a larger pool of potential atheletes to pull from should be able to assemble a more talented team. That is why Chambersburg is not in a division with Shippensburg, Greencastle, JB.

I don't understand why Chambersburg has become so awful lately. I do know that one reason is that more of our talented atheletes are now playing soccer in the fall. As the soccer program has improved, the football program has declined. But other schools seem to be able to maintain both programs (Carlisle, Cumberland Valley) so I don't think that this should be an excuse.

From the Internet, it looks like Rashad Curtis is currently a Senior playing RB/DB for Loyola HS of Towson, MD.

"the more cooks, the worse pottage."

get the parents in the bleachers where they belong, from midget up, give the coaches the leeway to develop Dedication, and maybe someday this sorry excuse for a football program will excell again. not to mention hiring a coach who is not accountable to the petty politics that exist in the teachers' lounge. in other words hire Joe paterno when he retires from penn state. I think the CASHS mascot should be Trojan Man. Then the kids can enjoy football AND learn about safe sex... talk about two birds!

Nah. It's easier for Wal-Mart to just add a Junior's Maternity section.

Who is the mastermind behind a 7 million dollar football stadium for football team that continously looses?! That money could and should have been used for the obvious lack educating the children of this town. Where are the priorities of the school board/school officials in this one horse town. You have too many hands in the pot and not enough well educated people with hands on experience in making big, costly decisions about our children's education. We need experienced people to make such executive decisions with honest, hard working individuals money/taxes! My tax dollars are not being used properly or effectively. It is more about the officials ego's rather than the education of children. You need to get over yourselves and start focusing on our future! Our, My, Your, Their CHILDREN!!!!!

I've been jumped on too many times for bashing that stadium. I've been told I don't understand or I would see it differently if I had a football player, but I'm pretty sure that I'll still say academics are more important, even if 'the boy' starts playing football.

My boy plays football and I still don't understand the why they wasted the money on a new stadium for a team that does not win, past or presently! They should set up class on the field instead of having those poor kids sit shoulder to shoulder with each other cause the school is too small and does/can not accomodate the huge population of kids.

The area is not getting any smaller and it will not be getting any smaller in the future! Why did they reject another high school to be built?!! It was the old school mentality that refuses to progress. "I went to Chambersburg HS, my mom and dad went, my grandparents went, my great grandma ..etc...Well it is not the 1800's-1900's anymore and we need to be progressive in our choices and smart with the money we have to spend on our schools and children! You need to think towards the future and stop listening and focusing on the past. Do what is best for us NOW not was best for us decades ago!

WHERE are the priorities of this ***-poor school district...so so sad!
