btw, chel, i've been singing this tune ever since you've posted it....lolz!

Glad I could be of help. You aren't alone, BTW. Though most people aren't lolz-ing when they mention it.

I have a bad habit of making up nonsense/goofy jingles, typically to the Spiderman, Batman and Frère Jacques tunes. I've been told I should sue Matt Groenig because Homer's Spider-Pig song sounds like it came right out of my head.

Sorry chel for stealing your train of song, just for a moment...

Does anybody watch Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants? (That is besides my one weird, sick, guilty sin.)

I was rooting for the Tomboys last week! Don't tell me what happened this week; it's still on the recorder.

I don't watch it. I just found out about it a few days ago when I ran across an article about a newly ejected team.

I cannot think of a reality show I watch that isn't on Bravo (Top Chef, Project Runway) ah, wait, Kitchen Nightmares also, but I enjoy the BBC version better than the American one.

AND to be perfectly honest, if nothing else is on and I have absolutely nothing better to do, I will watch the American Idol reject show. Never the rest of the season...misery and failure only for me, thank you.

Maybe if we stop watching reality TV, they'll stop making it... oh, I could only hope.

I'm seriously anti-reality TV by the way.

And now, with the writer's strike, we're doomed to be subjected to the very bottom of the awful reality TV barrel. As if there isn't a better way to chronicle the downfall of humanity's culture. Ha, as if someone 10 years from now will buy The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition on DVD. They won't; these stupid, worthless shows have no value and they require absolutely no brain. And there's nothing I hate more than when people say "Uh, sometimes I just want to watch something stupid and not think about it." Yeah, that's why we're all getting stupid... er.

The worst, by far, is Deal or No Deal. Do not get me started.

As much as I'll miss The Sopranos, and pretty much every other HBO show that's off the air now, I guess I'll have to settle for the new American Gladiators.... which, even I have to admit despite my preceding rant, looks like it might be entertaining, purely for nostalgic purposes.

I think I'm just bittered by the lack of new Daily Show/Colbert.

We (yupper both of us) watch Top Chef, Kitchen Nightmares, and KN Revisited(both on the BBC). I love Gordom Ramsey! I also watch Project Runway. (Sweet P should have gone with the original dress she had before she re-re-made her dress. I liked that one.) I suppose you watched the Top Stylist, as well? What is the name of Ramsey's show on Fox where he yells at all the chefs? We love that one, too.

Never mind...I remembered...He1l's Kitchen.

I had to look up what DH stood for...got it now. Nice!

No, Queen, I really couldn't get into the stylist show. The model show they've been plugging doesn't catch my interest, either. I like to watch Ramsay and Top Chef and trick myself into thinking I can cook.

'Kay so I'm watching 100 Greatest Songs of the 90's on VH1 (I believe we've established that there is nothing on television right now--correct?)

And the narrator said something to the effect of, "Coming up, Flava Flav's commentary on 911..."

Being me, I, of course start singing "Get up, Ga Get Get Get down, 911 is joke in your town..." And my husband looks at me like I've lost my mind---Okay that's a normal reaction to my behavior but it turns out he had never heard the song "911 is a Joke"

Shocked

Not only that but my mid-twentysomething husband had never heard of several of the songs...is this a yankee thing? I don't consider myself a huge music fan...I love music and listen to several types, but my horizons aren't that broad.

I had a point but I think I lost it somewhere...my head hurts....

i love the '90's' songs (and 80s and 70s and all those fun retro-y shows) telly shows....we were watching it the one night as we played WoW and all of us in our group were having fun 'flashing back' with the songs (barenaked ladies "one week" lolz!)

maybe it's an area thing? alot of us are restricted to the confines of mix95 (sigh)....but as for me, i have a pretty broad music spectrum

who needs a point after all? points are....sometimes...well....pointless! Very Happy

It is a blast isn't it? Music can take me back like nothing else.

Ahhhh, I am loving this show!! (still the 90's songs)

They got Everlast, who currently sings the opening track for Saving Grace which happens to be a very good show

I have to disagree about Will Smith's greatest contribution was "Gettin Jiggy wit it" It was most definitely "Summertime"

Salt n' Pepa

Digital Underground (I remember we used to argue on who Humpty was, one of my friends used to swear it was Tupac...I had my doubts tho'!)

Bushwick Bill from Geto Boys was just sick so it's kind of crazy he's doing christian rap

Korn

Arrested Development (I wore three of those tapes OUT)

Deee-lite!! OMG
Very Happy

LoL I feel younger!

Darn, now I need friends so I can share this...

Hmmm a Garbage/ Alanis concert? I 'spose it could work. Must have been during the "Jagged little Pill" Angry white chick phase (ya gotta dig the angry white chick songs!)

Weezer and Beck, man...LOLZ (apologies to cookieclaygirl)

They had LLCool J, Montel Jordan, Collective Soul, Fatboy Slim, Live, Naughty by Nature, Joan Osborne and her "What if God was One of Us?" song (I had no idea that religious people were sending her death threats...that makes no sense to me)

And then the ruggers and I started goofing off--he admitted that I had decent taste in music (coming from the kid who has Pink Floyd, Alabama and the Baha Men on the same cd (how did that happen?!)) then he started to dance and decided he was going to try to wear his clothes backwards like Kriss Kross and even tho' I consider myself pretty strong in favor of self expression, I was like, yeah, you can try

I'm going to have Tivo those shows when they come back on...

Ladies, I don't think it's a Yankee or regional thing. There are simply two types of people in this country; those who care about pop culture, and those who don't. Some listen to whatever is trendy now, others listen to a Super Hits From the 80's compilation CD and actually get excited when they hear Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran" or maybe Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl."

But when it comes to 90's music; now there's my area of expertise. Anyone watch "The World Series of Pop Culture" on VH1? I dominated that show.

BTW, Will Smith's greatest contribution was, without a doubt, the theme song to "Fresh Prince."

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the/
Licensplate said "fresh" and had a dice in the mirror

Before he was homeless and killing vampires, or even gettin' jiggy wit it, Will Smith was like "Yo home, smell ya later!"

Whatever happened to Hootie and/or The Blowfish. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you know that Darius Rucker did not like to be called "Hootie" but what does he expect? Anyone ever notice that their drummer looks like Helen Hunt?

Speaking of Montell Jordon, I find that his one and only hit song "This Is How We Do It" randomly pops into my head even to this day. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts when we're just watching television and I just say "So I reach for my 40 and I turn it up, Designated driver take the keys to my truck.... I'm kinda buzzed and its all because" and then I point to her like she's supposed to finish the line.

You see the hoods been good to me
Ever since I was a lower-case g
But now Im a big g. the girls see I got the money
A hundred-dollar bills y'all

Wow; one of the greatest literary minds of the 20th century.
