Perhaps Munchkin likes to read the Fox News headlines but fails to read any news story.

The top two Senators for earmarks are Republicans. Their combined total represents 17% of all earmarks. In the House, two of the top 3 are Republican.

Munchkin says the Democrats want to raise taxes - this is unlike the Republicans who just spent money with no regard to figuring out how to pay for it. Three trillion added to our national debt in just 6 years.

The idea that we know who got what earmarek is due to Democratic pushed legislation.

Bush said the Democratic version of the energy bill had tax increases. These "tax increases" were the withdrawl of the gift Cheney & Bush gave their oil buddies. However, the Republican blocked the bill until the oil companies could keep their tax breaks. 82% of all campaign donations from the oil industry were to Republicans. Are we all glad they got what they paid for.

It used to be Republican to be fiscally responsible. It is now Democratic to want to balance the budget.

Munchkin, I am afraid that your (and my) Republican party just isn't very Republican anymore.

By the way, Munchkin, Hillary s from Illinois not from the northeast.

Perhaps you are confused after watching a rich kid from Connecticut pretend to be a windshield cowboy.

I was going to bring this up, but decided against it. I figured munchkin would just come back with something like "she's a NY Senator though, blah, blah, blah, they're all the same, Kennedy, Hillary, Schumer, death to democrats" yada yada yada. I didn't want to get into it.

I'm waiting for munchkin to tell us Obama is a Muslim.

I can agree with every point lsted by .chel. I might add a few.

Is Hillary the one?

1) She continues to take money from special interets.
2) Will there be a bipartin effort? Republicans will fight her tooth & nail. Will it be the same crap today but with a Democrat in charge?
3) Her vote on the Iran guard thing was just stupid. She learned nothing from the Iraq war vote.
4) Since 2000, she has drifted toward the right - positioning, positioning, positioning. (a statement about positioning and not her new beliefs)

Don't get me wrong, I would vote Hillary over Rudy, Fred, Mitt, Hucklebee, McCain (did I miss any Republicans?).

Dave,

I wasn't intending to ignore your post. Honestly, I do not know who is the one. Of the Dems right now only Obama, Edwards and Clinton seem viable.
Obama seems full of hope, a fresh approach and a little naive.
Edwards seems a bit bitter and is alrady making empty promises (I'm sure all members of this board realize a president really can't take away Congress's health insurance). It's really hard for me to take him seriously. He seems like a big-hearted guy, but he also seems like too much of a big talker.
Now, Clinton, oh where to start?! Yes, she's another Clinton, but I didn't think Former President Clinton was that bad.
Quote:
He got a bj from a woman who wasn't his wife and then he lied about it...show me a man who wouldn't. I'll take it a step further and say that if it'd been me, I would have lied too. Not because I wanted to deceive the public, but because I'd rather not humiliate my spouse further and it's really nobody's doggone business. Even if he had not lied, those who don't like him still would be complaining.

I'm not going to hold his deeds against her. No one made a stink about Laura Bush committing vehicular homicide against her high school sweetheart. No one is running her through the ringer like they did with Ted Kennedy and he doesn't even get to pick out White House china.

Back to Hillary. I don't know if she can win. I do know that, for better or worse, she knows the ins and outs of the godforsaken system. She already has a knowledge and is going to need less time to learn the ropes. World leaders already know her (whether or not it is through her husband--I don't care!) Military leaders, both active and retired have come forward and said that of all the congressmen, she made a point to seek them out, sit down with them, ask questions and listen. I have no doubt that if it really comes down to it, she will not hesitate to crack skulls with a smile.
And the cherry on top is that she isn't going to shove a bunch of phony-do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do "values" down my throat.

Those are a few of the reasons, of the top of my head, I'm supporting Hillary (as of now.)

And *maybe* there is a slight chance I would get a kick out having a First Laddy in the White House, but that part, I could take or leave. Wink

It is now official that Huckster is a total and complete moron.

I was already pretty sure, but now it's definite.

Colbert was GREAT last night, sans writers....

Is it true that you do not support building a pneumatic tube to fire Mexicans back to Guadalajara?

I see that playing the "Tear Card" worked well. Heck, even Romney is trying it.

Hillary had been using the laugh response but now Rudy has that mastered.

I could have voted Hillary before but ever since that flag burning amendment thing, she has been just positioning. Now she's positioned herself as the change candidate. It seems to work for Obama so why not her?

I swear that she listened to Obama's speech congratulating her and changed a few words & gave it as a victory speech.

I'll still vote Hillary over any of the Republicans but I'd much rather see Edwards or Obama - at least they can win in November.

Speaking of the election, I got a kick out of Bush when asked what he thought about the candidates running on change - as if that was a commentary on his term. He said that he would run on change.

This means one of two things.

1) Even Bush thinks he sucked or

2) He is saying he would lie (again) to the Amrican people - anything to get elected.

This is almost as stupid as the comment to Israel that they should quit occupying Arab land. What the freak does he think we are doing in Iraq - vacationing?

Before that it was "executive Priveledge" Bush telling Putin that Putin needs to have checks & balances in his government.

This guy is such an embarrassment.

President Bush said that if he was running for president for the first time, then he would be different that whoever was currently in office.
I think that was a pretty good answer to Mr Lauer's question.

It's not a good answer at all considering it wouldn't make sense if people actually liked the sitting president. Al Gore ran in 2000 on a platform of "continuing the economic prosperity" under Clinton. Last I saw, Gore won the popular vote.

Of course you're going to run on change if the current president's approval rating is barely over 30%. Clinton's final approval rating was listed at 66%.

In fact, Bush 41 actually ran on a platform of no change (read my lips!) on the heels of a successful Reagan presidency.

So no, it's not a good answer other than acknowledging that people don't want this country to continue down the path it's on.

seriously?

The issue of the political season is going to be that Clinton showed emotion?

1) I watched it, first hand and I don't consider it crying. She choked up. People do that. McCain has spent his entire political career showing emotion...he's just always calling people fuckheads and assholes.

Both Bushies admitted to crying when President, so did Reagan.

Oh but she's just a hysterical female, right?
Can't handle the pressure, right?

2) Or is she just a cold calculating *** that planned to choke up? Is that what you're implying Dave? If you were to believe that, which I don't, she's less of a candidate because she plans and strategizes? 'Cause none of the other candidates plan their appearances?

BTW Dave, she only had a concession speech written, so she was winging it.
Us hysterical females don't think well on our feet, ya know? We're too busy screaming and tearing out our hair.
