Last seasons viewership flattened with a lackluster season.

In recent weeks, the pixie dust of success sprinkled on all "Idol" finalists seems to have lost its power. Taylor Hicks, the Season 5 winner, was dropped by Arista Records for lack of sales; Season 2 "Idol" Ruben Studdard was axed by J Records; and Katherine McPhee - runner-up to Hicks - lost her record deal. The first album by Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks stiffed, with just 119,000 copies in sales, and even Kelly Clarkson, the very first "Idol," struggled last year.

And the "American Idol" concert tour - usually a summertime blockbuster - played to a lot of empty seats in 2007.

Does any one remember Star Search or Puttin On The Hits?
I think to save Idol.... Simon and Paula need to fall in Love

It's a non-stop, over-the-top, over-commercialized karaoke tournament. How could it NOT get old?

Stir at 400 degrees add a cup of guitar hero.
America fell in love with Taylor Hicks because he was cute and stupid.
Once cute wore off we still had stupid. Just wait a couple years fellas a few of these girls will be posing in Playboy to keep the Idol thing alive.

You know its bad when old wwf wrestling albums are better than the Idol ones. Remeber Clay don't have nothing on the the Honky Tonk Man!
He's cool he's cocky and he's bad.

I watch the first episodes, the "auditions" if you will. After that I just don't care, and having darts on Tuesday night make it difficult. I did listen to some of Taylor Hicks album and it was horrible. I am a bigger fan of Nashville star.

I read in Time magazine that overall Concert Ticket sales were down about 4-5 million , so I don't think it was just the AI Tour ...

I still watch it but I hate the first couple of weeks...they don't show many good singers usually the idiots that want a five second shot on TV.
We have got a few good musicians out of this show. I for one like Daughtry's music. If it wasn't for AI he probably still wouldn't of been discovered!
Reubon and Hicks shouldn't of ever come close to winning but America decides!

I think it's one of the better reality TV shows and much better than what passes for network TV these days.

Sitcoms are horrible, and I never could get into the hour long dramas. I guess it's an attention span thing. I can watch American Idol and do other things at the same time.
