How can Dunkin Donuts be nostalgic if we still have one, just in a different place?
You have to admit, that Starbucks location is bad. It makes the intersection of Stouffer and Route 30 a nightmare. You have giant SUV's pulling in and out of Starbucks coupled with senior-citzens pulling in out of Ponderosa, along with a dreadfully short right turning lane and a light I've waited for up to three cycles to actually get through, and you have a crappy intersection. |

IIRC, that bar was called Hatmakers. They also offered live bands. |

The street dances at the C'burg Army Reserve Center parking lot behind the YMCA and at the old Market House parking lot on 3rd street.
Block parties at the VFW parking lot (before their building expansion). |

I remember the block parties....I remember the Franklin Fire Company having one on King Street. They would block off the street, have live bands playing, a bunch of cheap fair-type games. I just can't imagine anyone trying to pull off one of those events now. I don't recall any complaints by the neighbors...but we had no forums back then.
I know somebody mentioned the Dairimaid.....I used to live in that big house across the street on Scotland Avenue. That big pinkish-red garage behind the house was the original Dairimaid milking barn. My father had pictures of the house when it was the only house for miles. I'm not really sure where the pictures are now. I don't know if he took them with him or left them with the current owners. Maybe I will locate them and put them on here. |
